Sony officially released a new flagship mobile phone, Xperia XZ3, at this year's IFA. The biggest difference from XZ2 is that it has replaced the OLED screen, becoming Sony's first smartphone to use OLED. However, in the later publicity, the official tweeted a message:
5G is coming! Enjoy ultra-fast connectivity and enhanced experiences with the Xperia #XZ3. pic.twitter.com/LNxUN3jsKM

Officially, does this imply that Xperia XZ3 supports 5G networks? However, the SoC of Xperia XZ3 is Qualcomm Snapdragon 845, and the internal integrated baseband should be X20 LTE. It is not the 5G baseband X50 5G that Qualcomm has released, which is very strange. In addition, the official network support also indicates that the maximum download speed is 1.2Gbps, which does not meet the 5G standard. The foreign media wccftech guessed whether Sony tried to insert a new X24 LTE baseband into the Xperia XZ3, because according to the official website of Qualcomm, the X24 LTE theory can support 2Gbps download speed, which is just the threshold of 5G, and claims that 5G Ready is not false.
However, the final result - this is just an own goal in Sony's propaganda. Sony later explained this problem on Twitter:
We want to clarify an earlier tweet to confirm our Xperia XZ3 does not support 5G. Whilst we're not there just yet, we are excited about the future of 5G and Xperia.
It is officially confirmed that Xperia XZ3 does not support 5G. Please look forward to the following Xperia XZ4 and XZ5. (So now it's time to start with Xperia XZ2!)
