On September 10, it was reported by Korean media that Samsung Galaxy S10 would eventually use Qualcomm's third-generation ultrasound screen fingerprint sensor. This product has not been used on any mobile phone yet, which will become the main selling point of Samsung Galaxy S10, because Samsung will launch Qualcomm's third-generation ultrasound screen fingerprint sensor for the first time, with a huge shipment.
There are already many mobile phones in the market that support fingerprint unlocking on their screens, such as the recently released vivo NEX and Xiaomi 8 Discovery Edition. However, these two mobile phones use the screen fingerprint sensors of Huiding Technology, a Chinese enterprise. Samsung will also equip its mid-range smartphones with sensors produced by Huiding Technology, but will use more high-end Qualcomm products on the Galaxy S10.
It is reported that the second generation of Qualcomm ultrasonic screen fingerprint sensor can work normally under 800 μ m (0.8mm) thick glass, while the penetration thickness of the first generation product is only 300 μ m. Huawei Mate 20 Pro will use Qualcomm's second-generation products. The two parties have signed an exclusive licensing agreement, but the parameters of Qualcomm's third-generation products are still unknown to the outside world.
An analyst said that Samsung had screened three unlocking schemes before and should have decided to use Qualcomm's ultrasonic technology, because it can work through the 1.2mm OLED screen, unlock normally underwater, and even detect blood flow and heartbeat, to achieve finger biometrics.
