Charming, Meizu HALO laser Bluetooth headset experience
Charming, Meizu HALO laser Bluetooth headset experience

While Meizu launched Meizu 15 series, it also updated two very distinctive wireless headsets on its audio products, namely HALO laser bluetooth headsets and POP bluetooth headsets, among which HALO laser bluetooth headsets can emit dazzling light, making you the brightest star in the night sky (laugh). What is the experience of this slightly different headset?

Appearance design

Meizu HALO Laser Bluetooth Headset (hereinafter referred to as Meizu HALO) continues the simple design style of Meizu. The cover is the rendering of Meizu HALO. We got the blue version, so the main color on the package is white+blue, and the words "Halo" in the corresponding color are on the side.

Meizu has engraved the words Halo Designed by MEIZU on the metal nameplate used for fixing earphones, which reminds me of Microsoft's game of the same name "Halo" on Xbox. Is Meizu's designer a fan of Halo?

At a glance, in addition to Meizu HALO, there are instructions, portable bag, USB charging cable and three pairs of silicone earmuffs S, M and L, all of which are the current standard configuration of Bluetooth headsets.

When Meizu HALO is not on, the whole cable is translucent and brown. Except the headset, it is equipped with a slider and a control box, which is slightly different from the general wireless Bluetooth headset in design.

The logo of MEIZU is printed on one side of the control box, and the other side is used for magnetic absorption slider.

There are laser switches, microUSB interfaces, volume keys, indicator lights and Bluetooth switches on the left and right.

The sliding block is used for magnetic adsorption with the control box and can be freely adjusted according to the wear.

Meizu HALO adopts the conventional 10mm in ear unit, but the appearance is made into a round ball, which is quite interesting. According to the official parameters, the frequency response range is 20~20000 Hz, and the sensitivity is 96db@1KHz , Bluetooth 4.1.

Wearing feeling

Meizu HALO is similar to many sports earphones. It is designed with ear loops and ear braces for fixation, and equipped with in ear units. It is very firm and can be used for various sports. However, it has also formed a distinct closed feeling of earphones. If users do not like earphones, Meizu HALO should not be suitable.

The "light on" effect brought by the exclusive optical fiber of Corning Fibrance in the United States and the laser light source of Osram in Germany can be said to be quite excellent. Even in the daytime, you can see the obvious effect. The cable has changed from translucent brown to purplish blue. Although it may not be so annoying in the daytime, it is different at night.

As long as you are in a slightly dark environment, Meizu HALO can make you the most eye-catching one in the crowd. Coupled with several modes of app, it still needs Liang Jingru's courage to put such a raucous headset on the street (smile).

However, the control box reduces the score of Meizu HALO. It can be easily operated by the user through magnetic adsorption on the slider. However, the extra weight will make the right ear feel uncomfortable, and the left and right sides are very unbalanced. The author has been used to it for a while but still can't get used to it, so he always puts the control box into his pants pocket when using it.

Sound quality and app

As a veteran of Meizu, the sound quality of Meizu HALO is good, with the highest support for aptX encoding. However, the actual measurement fails to reach the highest level of aptX HD, and SBC transmission can only be used on some mobile phones. In this regard, it is unknown whether it is the mobile phone factory or Meizu's adaptation problem. In terms of actual listening sense, Meizu HALO has a very obvious orientation, with enhanced low frequency, moderate intermediate frequency and weak high frequency, which basically indicates that it is a popular music oriented headset. Considering Meizu HALO's positioning, this performance can be said to be very consistent with the target population.

Meizu has specially provided the app of MEIZU HALO to set the laser light mode of the headset for all users who are angry. Meizu HALO provides three modes, namely music mode, constant light mode and flicker mode, which all support independent brightness adjustment. However, the function of this app is really only to set different modes, without any additional functions. It is recommended that Meizu can also add Bluetooth pairing, volume adjustment and other related settings of the headset, or it is too thin to provide an app that can only set different modes of laser.

tail

Meizu HALO Bluetooth headset is not so much a digital product as a fashion accessory to attract consumers who want to be different. From the price of 999 yuan and limited sales, it is obvious that HALO is an experimental product of Meizu. In my opinion, HALO's next generation products can try more different new materials, and it may be more appropriate to cooperate with trendy brands to open up new markets.
