People friendly Liu Haiping, Nokia X6 evaluation
Lu Jiajun 2019-05-24 10:10

After HMD picked up the brand "Nokia", it has set off a whirlwind of new phones in all markets around the world. Whether it is the retro 3310 or the ZEISS certification on smart phones, the biggest selling point is still consumers' feelings and trust in the brand "Nokia", not the excellent quality of the machine itself. However, after a number of new models, we can see that the new Nokia 7 is closer to real consumers, and its pricing is more and more generous. HMD recently officially released the Nokia X6 for the Chinese market, which shows its sincerity.

Appearance and design

Although the elements of Nokia X6 in the appearance design are not rare: the special-shaped full screen commonly known as "bangs screen", double-sided glass, metal middle frame, rear dual camera and fingerprint identification, these elements are common on the machines of friends, but through the integration of designers, The Nokia X6 is more textured than other brands' thousand yuan machines, and has no problems in workmanship. It really outperforms its competitors at the same level in appearance.

Thanks to Liu Haiping's design, the Nokia X6 has a 5.8 inch screen and the smallest body of the same level model. It is more comfortable to hold and operate with one hand, which is a major advantage of Nokia X6. The position of the back fingerprint identification is exactly the position of the index finger in the normal holding position, which is much better than the design of Sony, which also sells faith next door, which always needs to bend the index finger on the flagship XZ2 series. Screen quality

Nokia X6 is equipped with a 5.8 inch 19:9 screen with a resolution of FHD+(2280x1080), which is longer than a friend's 18:9 screen. In terms of book parameters, the Nokia X6 LCD panel is superior to other models of the same level in terms of fineness and color gamut (98% NTSC color gamut is officially advertised). How is its actual performance?

The measured data is a bit surprising. The default screen color temperature of Nokia X6 has reached 10750K Love to play computer games The coldest screen in the tested models at present, the key point is that the manufacturer has not set the option of manual adjustment in the system under this default color temperature. It's not a big problem to use after getting used to it, but after a long time of use, you will feel yellow when you switch to the screen of other electronic products, which requires a certain buffer time. The default color temperature that is too cold also brings about the problem of color accuracy. No matter in the sRGB or DCI-P3 color gamut, the average DeltaE of Nokia X6 is 5, and the maximum DeltaE exceeds 10. The biggest problem is that viewing pictures on this screen is far from the effect you can see on your computer.

The performance of color temperature and color accuracy is not very satisfactory. Fortunately, it performs well in other aspects. The color gamut is basically consistent with the official propaganda, covering more than 100% of the sRGB color gamut, which can reach 94.8% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. The contrast is 1217:1, and the manual maximum brightness is 413 nits. It is no problem to meet daily needs. If the color temperature and color standard can be adjusted in later updates, the Nokia X6 can be said to be equipped with the best screen in the same price range.

Performance and system

This time, HMD configuration is a conscience. Compared with some manufacturers using Snapdragon 625 at this price, Nokia X6 uses a new generation of "God U" Snapdragon 636 on SoC, with 4/6GB RAM+32/64GB ROM. The specific performance details can be found in our previous "The rise of ShenU! Performance evaluation of Red Rice Note 5 Snapdragon 636" The Nokia X6 is no different from other models equipped with Snapdragon 636 in terms of running points. It is a normal operation. Compared with Snapdragon 625 and 630, the CPU single core performance is greatly improved, while the multi-core performance is relatively low. Although it is still lower than Snapdragon 660, the gap is not as obvious as the original Snapdragon 625 and 630.

Some of GPU's friends, Xiaomi, claimed a 40% increase when releasing new machines, and even more than 50% increase in actual running points, which proved that Qualcomm still squeezed more toothpaste on Snapdragon 636. However, all new machines using Snapdragon 636 at present are equipped with a 2160x1080 full screen with higher resolution, The Nokia X6 has a 2280x1080 screen, which will naturally affect the performance of the actual running games. Expectations should not be too high.

No longer Nokia in those days, HMD's smartphones today naturally use the Android system, which is different from the customized system made by friends for the domestic market. HMD's strategy is to focus on clean and simple native style, and provide system security updates in a timely manner. Compared with its competitors, Nokia X6 has only three pre installed apps, namely WeChat, Alipay and Weibo. It has only one negative screen and one home screen on its first boot, which is really very simple. The system is based on the latest Android 8.1, with the security patch updated to May, and the official commitment is that Nokia X6 will become a member of Android P as soon as possible.

The system is simple, but it does not mean simple. The experience HMD has learned from the previous models can be said to be applied to the Nokia X6 - the popular full screen gestures, there are! Game Do Not Disturb Mode, Yes! Common applications are double open, there are! Most of the functions that domestic consumers like, HMD, are integrated into the system. It is indeed a model designed for the Chinese market.

("Big black edges" may appear in bangs and the area below)

However, HMD has improved a lot in terms of system functions, which does not mean that there are no major shortcomings. The first problem is the problem of app adaptation. Although the current full screen is popular, the Nokia X6 has fringe and an unusual ratio of 19:9. The probability of encountering problems is much higher than other models, In addition, HMD does not provide the option of forced stretching in the system like OPPO and vivo, and it can only rely on app developers to refuel For correction, netizens commented that a long press on the multitasking interface will result in the setting of forced stretching on the upper right corner of the tab. The actual measurement shows that the effect is good, but the entrance is hidden deeply and there is no relevant prompt. I hope HMD can provide more clear instructions in later updates Secondly, HMD is not good at system optimization. It is also the Snapdragon 636, and the Nokia X6 may get stuck when sliding on the main screen. The red rice Note 5 next door is much smoother, which really forms a sharp contrast. In a word, "The revolution has not yet been successful, and comrades still need to work hard ”。

Dual photography strength

Due to the cost, some parts of the 1000 yuan machine are often subject to trade-offs. Nokia X6 has made great efforts on the screen and processor, so the weakness is in taking photos: equipped with 16 million+5 million dual camera combination, the main camera unit pixel is 1 μ m, and the sub camera is 1.2 μ m, f/2.0 aperture. At first glance, there seems to be nothing wrong. Just look at the opponent of Snapdragon 636 next door: Red Rice Note 5 (S5K2L7, 1.4 μ m+full pixel dual core focusing), Magic Blue E3 (IMX 362, 1.4 μ m+full pixel dual core focusing), Nut Pro 2 Special Edition (IMX 386, 1.25 μ m). If there is no comparison, there will be no harm. Let's look at the gap between our rivals.

In the case of sufficient light, the high pixels of Nokia X6 do not gain any advantage in details, and the noise control ability is slightly weaker. However, the biggest problem is the white balance and color. Compared with the color performance of red rice Note 5, the Nokia X6's image is really "plain" and inaccurate, and the overall color is blue.

The glare control ability of the Nokia X6 lens module is not bad, but the picture details and noise control are not as good as those of the red rice Note 5. There is still a slight problem with the white balance, and there is still a blue bias.

In this group of indoor proofs, the Nokia X6's pictures are slightly overexposed. Its analytical power is not as good as that of the red rice note 5, and its tolerance is also inferior to that of its rivals. Fortunately, although the white balance is not accurate this time, the proofs look good, which is a good thing compared with the previous proofs.

Of course, not all scenes of Nokia X6 are inferior to its rivals. For example, in this group of samples, the performance of Nokia X6 is not inferior to that of Red Note 5 in terms of white balance, discrimination and noise control. Thanks to higher pixels, it is even better in details.

If the Nokia X6 can barely fight when the light is sufficient, the Nokia X6 will show its true colors when the light is insufficient: the white balance is blue, the details are not as good as the competitors, and the image brightness is not high.

Left: Red rice Note 5 Right: Nokia X6

The road sign beside the street lamp is forcibly exposed by Nokia X6, and some details of the center focus are acceptable, but the background is already blurred, and the noise control is also general. It is barely acceptable from a single perspective, but compared with the red rice Note 5, I think there is still a lot of room for improvement.

In the extremely weak light scene, the shortage of hardware is completely exposed. When the red rice Note 5 can still see the shooting object clearly, the Nokia X6 can only barely see the focusing part, and there is only a very fuzzy outline around, which is basically useless.

In general, the photographing ability of Nokia X6 is limited by the hardware performance. As expected, it will not perform well. It is available in the daytime, but there is a slight problem with the white balance; The night is passable with the help of some lights, so give up the extremely weak light environment; Of course, scanning a QR code is more than enough for daily payment.

Endurance

In addition to taking photos, Nokia X has a 3060mAh battery capacity because of its small size. If the Snapdragon 636 is matched with a battery of this size, the endurance performance should not be too bad. However, considering that its competitor, the Hongmi Note 5, has reached 4000mAh, and the Magic Blue E3 has 3360mAh, Nokia X may lag behind other models in endurance.

However, the actual test results are much better than expected. The positive factor is that its screen is small, and the negative factor is that its battery capacity is also small. The Nokia X6 with the smallest battery has the most remaining 81% of power, while the Hongmi Note 5 and Meilan E3 have 80% and 77% respectively. The difference is not big.

Look carefully at small projects. In video and Internet projects, the three machines are all similar. The power consumption of Nokia games is significantly lower, which is related to the strict control of the number of cores and frequency during the game. On the balance of performance output and endurance, Nokia obviously prefers the latter.

summary

At the press conference, when HMD announced that the starting price of the Nokia X6 was 1299 yuan, everyone said it was unbelievable. The Nokia brand machine suddenly became cost-effective and sincere, which seemed unbelievable. Latest system (Optimization is a little short of heat) , Available photos (weaker than the opponent) Good endurance (Snapdragon 636 is the strongest camp) , good screen (Ultra cold color temperature) The Nokia X6 offers a good experience to consumers at this price, not to mention that it is the cheapest model in the market that can be upgraded to Android P, and it has no shortage of selling points.

HMD listed this new machine in the X series, and Nokia's X series has always been a representative of innovation in my opinion: Xpress Music has opened the door to music phones, and Nokia X is the first Android model of Nokia. This time, Nokia X6 may represent the beginning of HMD's real integration into the Chinese market and providing consumers with excellent cost-effective machines.
