How about the performance of Helio P60? OPPO R15 score comparison

OPPO R15 adopts MediaTek Helio P60 processor for the first time in the processor part. There are many disputes about this processor. After all, MediaTek's reputation has not been good in the past two years, and OPPO is really bold. After all, in the mid tier processor market, Qualcomm Snapdragon 660 is like Sun Zhongtian, and most mid tier models have preferred this processor. To some extent, they may also be worried that users do not accept MediaTek's P60 processor. Therefore, OPPO has launched a dual version this time. The regular version uses MediaTek's Helio P60, while the Dream version uses Snapdragon 660 processor. The price of the two is slightly different. The former 4+128 is 2699 yuan, and the latter 6+128 is 2999 yuan. The dream version is only 6+128, and the price is 3499 yuan.

Helio P60 uses TSMC's 12nm FinFET process, which is composed of four core Cortex-A73 2.0GHz and four core Cortex-A53 2.0GHz. It supports ARM's HMP technology. MediaTek officially claims that the performance is 70% higher than P23, large games save 25% electricity, and the overall power saving is 12%. Up to 8G LPDDR4x (compatible with LPDDR3) 1800MHz memory, supporting eMMC 5.1 and UFS 2.1 flash memory. In terms of graphics, MaliG72-MP3 800MHz graphics processor is used, which can support 20:9 full HD display resolution at most. Now let's just analyze the performance of Helio P60 from the running points.

Models involved in this comparison:

  • OPPO R11s: Snapdragon 660

  • Red Rice Note 5: Snapdragon 636

  • Xiaomi Note3: Dragon 660

  • Meilan S6: Exynos 7872

  • Nut 3: Snapdragon 625

  • 360 mobile N6: Snapdragon 630

  • Red Rice 5: Dragon 450

Processor performance

The performance of MediaTek has been poor for many years, and we are still worried about its performance. However, in terms of processor performance, The performance of Helio P60 actually exceeded expectations. In our comparison models, P20 was second only to Snapdragon 660 in many run points, but in RAR single thread, it lagged behind Snapdragon 660 and Exynos 7872, but was still ahead of Snapdragon 636.

This is also related to their architecture. Snapdragon is composed of four 2.2GHz Kryo260 and four 1.8GHz Kryo260. The big and small cores are Qualcomm's semi autonomous architecture based on A73 and A53 respectively, while Helio P60 is composed of four 2.0GHz A73 and four 2.0GHz A53 public architectures. The theoretical achievements of the two should be similar.

Graphics Performance

In terms of graphics performance, the performance of the P60's MaliG72-MP3 800MHz is also better than we expected. Although GFX lags behind Adreno512 of Snapdragon 660, and the Manhattan scene lags far behind, the Tyrannosaurus Rex is pulled away, only slightly better than the Snapdragon 363. 3DMark and Snapdragon 660 are both winners and losers, but the gap between them is not big. However, considering the slightly higher resolution and different optimization levels of Adreno and Mali by software manufacturers, the actual game experience of R15 may not be better than that of R11s of Snapdragon 660.

Memory performance

Compared with the performance of the processor, the performance of the internal performance part is not so ideal. The single core part is largely abandoned by Snapdragon 660, and even weaker than the red rice Note5 using Snapdragon 636. The multi-core part is relatively strong, ahead of all the comparison models using Snapdragon 660. The memory latency is normal, at the same level as the other two models that use Snapdragon 660.

Storage read/write performance

In terms of storage read performance, both continuous write and random write are average. The former is within the normal range, and has a small advantage over other Snapdragon 660 models (R11s uses the F2FS file system, so random write scores are significantly higher). However, R15 performs well in continuous reading and random reading, especially in random reading. On the one hand, R15 adopts 128GB built-in storage throughout the line, and the test data under the same conditions will be higher than 64GB and 32GB models; On the other hand, the storage control of Helio P60 is really OK. Xiaomi Note3 of Snapdragon 660 also stores 128GB, but both random reads and random writes are lost to R15.
