On March 22, Samsung released the latest mid tier SoC - Exynos 9610. This SoC belongs to the Exynos 7 series. The most important point is that it adopts the 10nm FinFET LPP process, strengthens deep learning and supports 480 frames of slow motion photography (960 frames for S9/S9+and Sony):
We are most concerned about the performance part. Exynos 9610 uses Samsung's second generation 10nm process, namely LPP process. Samsung has directly upgraded its mid-range products to the top manufacturing process. Snapdragon 845 also uses this, while Snapdragon 835 uses the first generation LPE. Its CPU is a 4 * 2.3GHz A73+4 * 1.6G A53 core, which is matched with a 3-core Mali-G72MP3 GPU (Samsung's official document is G72, and its own configuration table is G71).
As a comparison, the Snapdragon 660 is a 2.2GHz Kryo 260 (A73 semi autonomous modified version)+1.84GHz Kryo 260 (A53 semi autonomous modified version). Theoretically, it is difficult to distinguish between high and low performance, but the 10nm process can gain more ferocious high frequency stability, so it is more stable and power saving. Qualcomm will have to wait until Snapdragon 670 comes out to recover its disadvantage.
The baseband is the same as Qualcomm's X12 LTE (Snapdragon 820/821, Snapdragon 660/630/636), which supports Cat.12 3CA downlink, with a maximum of 600Mbps; Uplink Cat.13 2CA, up to 150Mbps.
The camera supports a maximum of 24 million pixels for front and rear, and a maximum of 1600W+1600W pixels for dual camera. Support LPDDR4x memory, UFS 2.1 and eMMC 5.1 storage. The rest includes Bluetooth 5.0, GPS, GLONASS, Beidou in China and Galileo in Europe.
Ben Hur, vice president of marketing of Samsung Electronics LSI, said, "It sets new performance standards for high-end devices. Its deep learning vision image processing solution and slow motion video function will change the way we use mobile devices."
Exynos 9610 combines neural network engine and visual image processing to improve facial recognition ability, improve camera focus, and enhance the signal-to-noise ratio and brightness of weak light imaging through multi frame synthesis.
Exynos 9610 supports 1080P video recording at 480FPS. Even with traditional CMOS, the ISP of Exynos 9610 can record slow motion video. Its built-in ISP performance is 1.6 times higher and its speed is 1.6 times faster than MIPI. The integrated multi format encoder (MFC) can encode and decode up to 4K@120FPS Video (Gospel of TV box system?)
The GPU in the official configuration table should be G72 MP3
After Qualcomm Snapdragon 636, a tube of entry-level toothpaste, Samsung squeezed out the toothpaste of middle end products. This year's SoC manufacturers are finally willing to fight.
