This patent shows the possibility of "changing the lens" for the camera through the slide of the mobile phone. The design principle is similar to the common mobile phone external lens, but this time the external lens/lens is integrated on the slide cover. This patent submitted to the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) was submitted on December 23, 2016, but it was recently approved.

This design uses one sensor and two lens modes to complete the imaging of two different focus segments, which can achieve the effect similar to the current telephoto/wide-angle dual photography, but does not need to stack an additional sensor. There will be no embarrassment of canceling optical anti shake due to thickness/cost and other reasons on the long focus sub camera.

In essence, this patent is a simplified version of Nokia's previous lens turntable (a turntable with multiple lenses of different focal lengths) patent. However, the slide design itself will increase the thickness of the phone, and the lens needs high-precision positioning. After a long time of use, the slide may become loose and cause virtual focus.
