3GPP has just determined the relevant hardware standards for the non independent 5G NR, which includes the 2.5GHz spectrum owned by Sprint, an American operator, and Sprint also said that it will start to provide 5G services in 2019.
According to the data, Sprint currently has more than 160MHz 2.5GHz spectrum resources, which is the largest 5G band that can be owned when the frequency is lower than 6GHz. Sprint has an advantage in 5G spectrum resources. Sprint also said that it will focus on mobile networks in the 5G era and is cooperating and developing with Qualcomm and Softbank. If it goes smoothly, Sprint is expected to start commercial use of 5G networks in 2019, providing corresponding networks and terminal equipment. Starting next year, Sprint will prepare for 5G, and will lay large-scale 2.5GHz MIMO radio equipment with 64T64R (64 transmitters and 64 receivers) to ensure upgrading to 5G NR.
Attach the original words of Sprint CTO:
This is an important milestone and we're making great progress accelerating the development and commercialization of 5G NR in the 2.5 GHz band. 5G will spur dramatic innovation and progress around the world, and we see great opportunity in mobile 5G, massive machine type communications, and ultra-reliable and low-latency communications.
