Micron recently released a new product of Yingruida Crucial MX500 series solid state drive. The 2.5-inch solid state drive launched this time is the first time that Micron has used 64 layer 3D TLC NAND flash memory particles on its consumer product line.

In terms of main control, the Crucial MX500 uses the SM2258 from Silicon Motion, with the maximum capacity up to 2TB. In terms of read performance, it uses SATA 6Gbps interface, random read/write is 95k and 90k IOPS, and sequential read/write is more than 510MB/s. Theoretically, the 250GB and 500GB versions can write 100/180TBW, while the 1TB and 2TB versions can write 360/700TBW.

Although the speed of SATA channel SSDs is no longer comparable to that of PCIE channel at present, there is still a huge user group due to the relatively low price, so the competition among the major players in this market is still very fierce. The speed improvement of the Crucial MX500 is very significant, compared with the main competitors The speed of Samsung 850 EVO has more than doubled.
