Second in the world! Domestic 6th generation flexible AMOLED production line mass production

From Samsung's S6 edge in 2015 to Xiaomi MIX at the end of 2016, the wave of curved screen and full screen was out of control. However, the high-quality flexible AMOLED was produced by Samsung before, and even LG has not been able to achieve a similar level of its P-OLED (plastic substrate OLED).

On October 26, 2017, BOE held the mass production ceremony of the 6th generation flexible AMOLED screen production line in Chengdu. This is the first flexible screen production line in China and the second 6th generation flexible AMOLED production line on the earth to start mass production after Samsung. BOE said that it has made efforts to OPPO、vivo、 More than ten customers, including Xiaomi, ZTE and Nubia, delivered AMOLED flexible screens.

The production line was built in May 2015, and mass production was advanced on October 26, with a total investment of 46.5 billion yuan. It is estimated that the monthly production capacity is 48000 pieces of glass substrates (1.85 meters * 1.5 meters), and the products are targeted at mobile phones and wearables. The other 6th generation flexible AMOLED production line of BOE is set in Mianyang, which was started on December 28, 2016 and is expected to be put into production in 2019.

The full name of OLED is active matrix organic light-emitting diode. It does not have the backlight structure of traditional TFT (IPS/MVA and so on belong to TFT screens) screens. When displaying black, it can achieve the effect close to that of no light. It has excellent response and contrast performance, and it also saves more power. The characteristics of independent lighting and being able to "print" on flexible substrates such as plastic make it the best choice for curved screen/folding screen.

BOE officially announced that Chengdu's 6th generation flexible AMOLED production line uses the world's most advanced evaporation and plating process, cutting the glass substrate into half for evaporation and plating. This production line uses low-temperature polycrystalline silicon (LTPS) plastic substrate instead of the traditional amorphous silicon (a-Si) glass substrate, and uses flexible packaging technology to achieve the bending and folding of the display screen. The display screen with LTPS technology has the advantages of high resolution, fast reaction speed, high brightness, low power consumption, etc. It can provide more beautiful, clearer and high image quality. Samsung's full range of curved screens, Apple's iPhone X and other mobile phones use flexible screens, but because the curved OLED production capacity is almost in Samsung's hands, the price is high. The biggest significance of mass production of domestic flexible screens must be the price.
