Xiaomi MIX 2 maintains the previous generation of pure black packaging. Compared with the conventional series, it has more signature cards, poster like instructions, and mobile phone cases from Mr. Lei, and the packaging is more refined. The biggest selling point of Xiaomi MIX 2 is that it is a full screen without forehead. The first impression is not as shocking as that of the previous generation. There are four reasons: the screen has shrunk to 5.99 inches and the proportion has been lengthened to 18:9. The metal frame of the ordinary version has radians (the frame of the all ceramic Unibody version is thinner), which leads to the thickening of the overall frame, the change from no earpiece to a catheter earpiece, which leads to the slightly thickening of the forehead. The change of the back cover of Xiaomi MIX 2 is that the camera is slightly higher and raised, and the arc of the ceramic back cover becomes larger. Workmanship: The workmanship of Xiaomi MIX 2 is obviously several levels better than that of Xiaomi 6. Fingerprint: The position of the rear fingerprint is moderate, but it is easy to touch the lens. The system provides four modes of "intelligent environment adaptation, screen enhancement and standard", and the central maximum brightness is 482, 511 and 487 nits respectively. For IPS, the extreme brightness is not high, and there is no mechanism to increase brightness stimulated by light, but it is enough in daylight. By default, it can only adapt to the environment. The brightness of the four corners ranges from 463 nits to 432 nits. The fluctuation is large, and the backlight uniformity is average. Fortunately, it is not obvious when viewed with the naked eye.

The objective data results of Xiaomi MIX 2 in multiple modes are 1.6 for iPhone 7, 1.8 for Note5, 2.6 for S6 edge+, and 2.9 for S7 edge.
Specifications: The screen of Xiaomi MIX 2 is the video panel of JDI. The main problem with this type of panel is that the refresh rate is low and the power consumption is more expensive. I don't know whether this is a compromise for the narrow border on three sides. The previous generation of MIX used Sharp's IPS.
Objective data: Usually, the standard mode is the screen run score mode for sRGB color gamut, but the color temperature of Xiaomi MIX 2 is not accurate with the color gamut calibration, and the color temperature is even yellow than the original 6500K which is yellow. The color accuracy performance in the three modes is satisfactory (Xiaomi's 1000 yuan machine can already achieve the deltaE below 2.0). What's more special is that under the default intelligent environment adaptation mode of the system, the sRGB color accuracy is slightly better than the standard mode as a whole, and the contrast difference between different modes is obvious.
Visual perception: Starting from Xiaomi Note, almost all flagship IPS screens have twill grids. The twill of Xiaomi MIX 2 is not as obvious as before, but it can still be seen from a close look. Compared with twill, the color temperature of Xiaomi MIX 2 is adjusted in addition to the default intelligent environment adaptation mode. In the standard and screen enhancement modes, the color temperature will be significantly red. When the eye protection mode is turned on, the whole screen will be really red. Even without contrast, it can be directly perceived, and the impact of use is relatively obvious. If you think the screen is red, you can try changing the mode.
18: 9 Advantages and disadvantages of screen: The screen with a longer scale mainly narrows the position of the top and bottom of the previous fuselage. The most obvious impact on actual use is the horizontal width of the screen. The 5.99-inch screen of the Xiaomi MIX 2 actually looks more like the 5.5 inch screen of the extended version. The advantages can be summarized as follows: more lines of characters can be displayed in daily use, the area utilization rate is higher when watching widescreen movies, the horizontal screen game has about 13% more field of vision (under the same DPI), and the screenshots of other full screen mobile phones need not be pulled down (except S8/S8+/Note8). The overall advantage will not be too great, and it is difficult to detect that you are using a long scale screen in many cases.
The longer 18:9 screen has almost no shortcomings, except that it is more expensive, it is more difficult to reach the notice bar, and some manufacturers will reduce their quality due to the narrow border. However, it never occurred to me that MIUI's support for full screen is far less than Samsung's, and some apps also have the problem of virtual keys blocking content, so you need to manually change the mode of the virtual key bar.

Xiaomi MIX 2 is equipped with MIUI 9 based on Android 7.1.1. The system is still familiar, and it is a domestically made ROM with the highest degree of function completion, which is obsessed with advertising. Recently, I finally followed up the Android 7.0/7.1 application split screen and double click multi task button to quickly switch functions. However, on Xiaomi MIX 2, we didn't see much optimization for full screen: the single hand mode is still not easy to use, the virtual key bar doesn't have a convenient full screen switch like Samsung, nor does it solve the problem that some old applications can't display full screen, nor does the virtual key bar have the upward stroke gesture of some peers after it is hidden, or even the virtual key bar in some apps can cover the content.

In the actual test, both CPU and GPU performance are slightly conservative than Xiaomi 6, but they are very small. In terms of storage, the 256G version has a higher continuous write speed than the other four 64/128G test models, but the random read/write performance, which is more related to speed, is not much different from the 128G version of the Xiaomi 6. The overall performance control of the Xiaomi MIX 2 is relatively conservative, and its extreme performance is slightly weaker than that of the Xiaomi 6, which is smaller. This is unexpected, but it may also be due to the individual differences of mobile phones.

The photographing part of Xiaomi MIX 2 is basically the same as that of Xiaomi 6. Xiaomi MIX 2 has a fast focusing speed and a slightly higher focusing success rate than Xiaomi 6, but the success rate of weak light, especially the point light source, is still extremely low. It is difficult to focus successfully by manually clicking the screen, while manual focusing in manual mode has no automatic night scene noise reduction. This situation is basically puzzling. Normal shutter response is fast, but there is no background HDR and multi frame synthesis, and the night scene noise reduction and HDR speed are relatively ordinary.

In addition to the extreme weak light and the possible lack of light measurement in the scene with large light difference, the picture brightness is slightly higher than the naked eye, and the weak light noise reduction is slightly weaker than Xiaomi 6.
When the light is sufficient, the ultimate discrimination power of Xiaomi MIX 2 and other machines are not big, and the image sharpening force is light. After the light becomes worse, the Xiaomi MIX 2 can not be separated from the machine without optical anti shake although it has optical anti shake. Xiaomi MIX 2 and Xiaomi 6 can still slightly beat their rivals in the light and some weak light scenes, but in the weaker light scenes, Meizu and Glory triggered multi frame synthesis, and the two Xiaomi were overtaken.
The camera hardware of Xiaomi's mobile phone has always been at the forefront of the same generation. This year, it is quite conscientious not to sacrifice optical anti shake because of the dual camera. Faced with Meizu, Yijia, a peer who has canceled optical anti shake, and has never been able to honor optical anti shake, Xiaomi has obvious hardware advantages this year.
However, Xiaomi's photography algorithm lags far behind. It has maintained white balance for many years, heavy hand smearing, weak light focusing strategy, low availability HDR, multi frame synthesis that still cannot be processed in the background, and even the aperture/focus information of exif is wrong. All kinds of small problems are telling Xiaomi how indifferent he is to the photography algorithm. This directly led to the photography of Xiaomi MIX 2, which is still at the lower level among the domestic big brands, and is really ashamed of the first-class hardware.
Endurance&Charging&Heating
Xiaomi MIX 2 is equipped with 3400mAh battery. After 30 minutes of large-scale games (NBA 2K15), 30 minutes of wifi and 4G Internet access, 30 minutes of local video playback, and a total of 2 hours of endurance test, the remaining power is 78%. It is weaker than Xiaomi 6, which has a similar battery capacity but a smaller screen, and its endurance performance is medium to low, but it is expected.
