The Z17 is the flagship model of Nubia series. On this machine, Nubia shows its industrial design and manufacturing capabilities as much as possible. The screen of this model is 5.5 inch, with a resolution of 1920 × 1080P. Its biggest feature is that it adopts a frameless design. On the Z17, it has restored the three major diamond keys of Android. The small red dots in the middle are still designed as breathing lights. The front of Nubia Z17 uses 2.5D radian glass. The 2.5D radian glass coupled with the frameless design causes a prism phenomenon on the screen edge. When viewing the screen from the side, rainbow stripes appear on the screen edge. This phenomenon is particularly obvious under the white background, which is the second controversial point of Z17. I think the golden effect on the back of the sunrise gold is not so obvious. If the mobile phone is placed under the yellow light source, the effect will be better.
For the dual camera on the back, Nubia does not use the dual camera technology of black and white+color lens on the Z17 min, but uses two color cameras with the main 12 million pixels and a pair of 23 million pixels. Photography has always been the most important part of Nubian mobile phones, and its photography effect is also well known. Nubia Z17 even uses 12 million+23 million pixels of color dual camera. What kind of light can these two excellent Sony CMOS golden combinations shine?
Camera APP
The camera APP interface of Nubia Z17 is very simple. All functions are integrated at the bottom. You can switch various modes by sliding left and right on the screen. Its professional mode only has four main parameters, namely shutter speed, white balance, ISO and focusing distance. Auxiliary parameters such as color saturation, sharpness and contrast cannot be adjusted.
What surprised me most about the professional mode was that when I adjusted the focus, I found that it actually supported the "peak focus" function, which is a patented function of Sony. Its feature is to highlight the area with the highest contrast in the picture. The peak focus is particularly obvious in assisting manual focus, which is why I particularly like to use Sony cameras.
The Z17 also has special effects, but special effects can only be used for video, photo and professional modes. All functions in portrait and camera families cannot use special effects.
Photo performance
First, let's take a look at the normal mode of the Nubia Z17, its performance in different light. First, look at the well lit daytime. Photos taken in normal mode have moderate exposure, accurate white balance, and almost perfect color reproduction. When you zoom in to see details, the sharpness is also good. It can be said that Nubia has taken Sony's 12 megapixel CMOS to the extreme.
In terms of red color performance, Z17 does a good job. The overall color is bright, saturated, and bright red slightly overflows. Other colors are very expressive, and noise can hardly be seen on the screen (the app turns on intelligent noise reduction by default).
When the light is insufficient, the F1.8 aperture used by Z17 is matched with the COMS with large sensitivity, and its sensitivity is shown. Even indoors and in the evening, the picture can still ensure sufficient brightness and shutter speed, and the white balance is not a problem. (The ISO of the above two pictures is 200, and the shutter speed is 1/25 second)
When the light is seriously insufficient, in the automatic mode, the shutter speed is 1/20 second, and the ISO value will be greatly increased to 1600. At this time, because noise reduction is turned on, the image noise is not serious, but the sense of smearing is strong. If noise reduction is turned off, the image sharpness can be improved, but the noise will increase. Other performances are good, but all mobile phone cameras have shortcomings. The Z17 also inevitably appears, that is, lens glare and ghost. Therefore, try to avoid these two factors when shooting night scenes.
If you want to improve the picture effect of the night scene, you can use the professional mode, which requires photography skills, especially the night scene, The ISO value should be as low as possible, and the exposure time should be as long as possible to obtain excellent photos. The Z17 does not have optical anti shake, so if you shoot by hand, the shutter speed should not be too slow. The above ISO is automatic, and I set the shutter speed to 1/4 second. At this speed, my hand is stable, and the overall picture effect is much better than the previous one.
Nubia Z17 supports 2x lossless zoom and 10x digital zoom. What is its effect? The 2x lossless zoom can only be used in the normal shooting mode. The three pictures above are cats shot at the same position in three states respectively. After the 2x zoom, there is no loss of the picture. The pixels of the first two pictures are the same, but the last picture with the 10x zoom is only 1080 × 1440, which means that the 10x digital zoom is only equivalent to post clipping.
In fact, Nubia's real photographic strength is in the camera family on the far left. There are a variety of photographic modes here. Through these modes, we can take all kinds of magical and beautiful photos.
Camera family
Multiple exposure: Multiple exposure was once a photography technique in the film age. It was a shooting technique to combine two or more photos into one photo. Nubia provided five synthesis methods, namely, simple, transparent, bright, dark and jigsaw. Each method has a different flavor. If I can play, I can take many interesting photos, but I am not good at playing, so I can only take photos with my hands.
Light painting: light painting is a particularly interesting function, which can be used to record the streamer effect of traffic, but also to keep the picture from overexposure. Its principle is to take a picture as the background, take a bad shot, and then superimpose the photos taken with highlights. The brightness of the background can be selected. Under normal night conditions,+3 will feel overexposure, The advantage of shooting streamer effect with this effect is that it can take a longer time. You should know to shoot in professional mode. In a normal night scene environment, even in the ISO100 state, the picture will be overexposed for more than 2 seconds (therefore, Nubia's professional mode only provides a maximum shutter speed of 2 seconds, and you need to use the camera family's slow door mode to expose for a longer time), but the disadvantage is that, Due to the superposition of multiple images, when the vehicle speed is too fast, as shown in the above figure, the streamer will not be connected, and intermittent conditions will occur.
In fact, light painting is naturally born for light painting. In addition, Nubia will record the process of light painting and save it as a video file, which makes light painting more interesting, and can also share video as a network.
Electronic aperture: you should know the current technology. Compared with the SLR, the biggest disadvantage of mobile phones is that they cannot adjust the aperture. The function of the aperture is that when the aperture value is larger, it will provide a higher depth of field and a lower amount of light input. The function of reducing the amount of light input is to reduce the shutter speed in the daytime and take longer photos. It is mainly used to shoot moving objects such as flowing water and clouds to form an atomizing effect. Nubia has added the electronic aperture function in the APP. Its principle should be to reduce the amount of light entering through the algorithm to delay the shooting time.
The main purpose of this method of shooting water is to atomize the water. This effect has always been a picture I want to take. Unfortunately, this is a small place where there is no landscape. I managed to find an open fountain and took a shot. But the water flow of the fountain is irregular, and the atomization effect is not ideal.
The cloud effect is suitable for shooting when the wind is strong and the cloud can be seen moving with the naked eye. I have not encountered such weather during my experience. However, I took a car sports photo, which has the effect of cloud. In fact, this is a sprinkler, and I wanted to take water... The electronic aperture can also be used to take pictures of night scenes, and the effect is good, And even long exposure will not shoot streamer effect.
Slow shutter: In fact, this function overlaps with the professional mode. The shutter setting of the professional mode is only 2 seconds at most, but the slow shutter mode can shoot for 21 minutes. Of course, without a dimmer lens, I am not a professional camera, and I have not yet figured out what scene needs a slow shutter of 20 minutes.
Because of the influence of the amount of light entering, even under the state of ISO100, the picture is bright enough at the 2-second shutter speed, and the picture above is completely dark at night, ISO800， After shooting for 22 seconds, the same brightness, ISO adjusted to 100, shooting for 2 minutes is enough, but the stars will orbit after too long exposure. Therefore, it is hard to imagine what kind of scenes need to be shot for 20 minutes.
Star orbit: I have always wanted to take a star orbit photo, but the light pollution around life is too serious, and there are plains and no mountains, so I always feel that I can't take such photos. Until I used Nubia Z17, I learned that even if the naked eye can't see the stars, the camera can still take such photos.
It's very interesting to take satellite orbit photos with Nubian mobile phones. Let's first understand how satellite orbit photos are taken. First, set the white balance to 3500, so that the sky is blue and purple, ISO It is 100 to ensure the picture quality. The focal length is infinite, the shutter speed is adjusted to 50 seconds, and the shooting starts. At this time, the phone will take a picture every 50 seconds, and then composite it. After the shooting is completed, it will generate two sets of files, one is the original picture, and the other is the composite picture. It will also provide a video file of the star orbit shooting process, which is very interesting.
It took me one hour and 48 minutes to take this photo, and 130 photos were taken in total. The shooting time started at 11:00 pm, because the street lights on the road would go out in half at that time. In fact, when shooting, the naked eye can only see a few of the brightest stars. The faint starlight is invisible to the eyes, but it can still be captured by the camera. In addition, if you want to take such a large circle of star orbit photos, you need to find the Polaris, because all the stars rotate in that direction.
Although it took 1 hour and 48 minutes to shoot, it only took 32 seconds to synthesize the video. Sending this video to the circle of friends must be full, right?

By comparing their file sizes, we can see that the original image with 12 million pixels occupies 23M space, the JPG image 5M space, the original image with 23 million pixels occupies 43M space, and the jpg image 8M space. Therefore, photos taken in the original image format are more convenient for later adjustment.
Clone: As the name implies, you can take multiple photos of yourself in one photo. In this mode, you can take up to 5 photos and at least 3 photos. It is best to use a tripod for shooting. After finishing, the APP will find out the part to be synthesized according to the algorithm. If you find something wrong, you can modify it manually, but it is difficult to grasp the accuracy of manual modification.
After synthesis, quadruplets appear in the picture, but the exposure of the four photos is different, and there are obvious signs of manual modification on the edges of the characters.
Time delay photography: Time delay photography is a kind of frame skipping photography style. It takes a picture every few seconds and then synthesizes it into a video. This effect is similar to fast forward playback. Nubia's time delay photography has only one fixed mode, and you cannot set how many seconds to take a picture.
Panoramic mode: Nubia's panoramic mode can take 270 ° panoramic photos, and the shooting effect is OK without obvious stitching marks. However, it is now out of the way to take such panoramic photos. Nubia recently launched a VR panoramic camera that can take 720 ° panoramic photos, which is interesting. The key is that the price is not expensive.
