On June 28, 2017, Shanghai, China - Qualcomm Technologies, a subsidiary of Qualcomm Incorporated (NASDAQ: QCOM), Inc. today announced the launch of the next generation ultrasonic fingerprint solution Qualcomm at the 2017 World Mobile Congress Shanghai (MWC 2017 Shanghai) ® Fingerprint sensor (Qualcomm ® Fingerprint Sensors), In the previous generation of Qualcomm ® Snapdragon Sense On the basis of ID fingerprint technology, new enhanced features are realized, including display, glass and metal oriented sensors, directional gesture detection, underwater fingerprint matching and device wake-up. Qualcomm fingerprint sensor is the first commercially released integrated ultrasonic mobile solution, which can bring better mobile authentication experience by detecting heartbeat and blood flow.

Qualcomm Technologies, Inc. Seshu Madhavapeddy, Vice President of Product Management, said, "We are very happy to launch the Qualcomm fingerprint sensor, because it can support a thinner and avant-garde design, a unique mobile authentication experience, and enhanced security certification. This will help OEMs and operators achieve added value on new breakthrough terminals and provide truly different differentiated terminals."

The display oriented Qualcomm fingerprint sensor is the first commercial multi-function ultrasonic solution announced in the mobile industry. It can scan, enter and match fingerprints through OLED displays up to 1200 microns thick; The Qualcomm fingerprint sensor for glass and metal is the first commercially released solution that can scan through a glass panel as thick as 800 microns and an aluminum shell as thick as 650 microns. It improves on the previous generation's glass or metal penetration capability of 400 microns.

Qualcomm fingerprint sensor can be used as Qualcomm ® snapdragon The integrated solution of mobile platform can also be used as an independent sensor for other non Snapdragon platforms. The Qualcomm fingerprint sensor for glass and metal can be compatible with the recently released Snapdragon 660 and 630 mobile platforms; The Qualcomm fingerprint sensor for display, glass and metal can be compatible with the future Snapdragon mobile platform and non Snapdragon platform.

Compared with the previous generation, the new features can support more unique product shapes, advanced functions and designs, making it easier for operators and OEMs to achieve product differentiation, thus realizing more design flexibility. Qualcomm fingerprint sensor for glass and metal is expected to be provided to OEM manufacturers this month, and is expected to be applied to commercial terminals in the first half of 2018. The display oriented Qualcomm fingerprint sensor is expected to be delivered to OEM manufacturers for evaluation in the fourth quarter of 2017.

Qualcomm Technologies will work with Vivo Mobile Communications Co., Ltd. (vivo) to demonstrate the Qualcomm fingerprint sensor for display and metal with the modified vivo Xplay 6. Qualcomm Technologies will also display the Qualcomm fingerprint sensor for glass using a modified terminal for demonstration only. Qualcomm Technologies will exhibit all of the above demonstrations at MWC Shanghai's W5.E90 booth (Hall W5).
