Just 9999! Mijia laser projection TV experience

Mijia held a new product launch conference in Beijing on June 28, 2017, of which the most notable was Mijia laser projection television. At present, all major domestic TV manufacturers, whether traditional brands or Internet brands, have launched their own laser TVs to compete for the high-end market previously occupied by Sony and Barco. The price of 9999 can be said to continue the "fine tradition" of millet's cost performance butcher. So what's the strength? Let's see the on-site experience first.

Appearance details

According to the official introduction, this time Mijia Laser Projection TV asked Jingxi International to take charge of the mold and shell. The seam and transition treatment were really good, but the texture of highlight was not enough. The overall design is quite standard. There are four speakers behind the black panel in front of it. Due to the noisy scene, the quality is not clear, but the volume is sufficient.

There are huge ventilation holes and adjustment knobs on the left and right for heat dissipation, and a USB 2.0 interface on the right.

The laser projection module with a projection ratio of 0.233:1 is also equipped with an anti direct vision sensor to prevent the laser light source from directly hitting the eyes. There is also a very low-key Mijia logo and English name in the center.

The interfaces are conventionally placed on the back, including Ethernet port x1, SPDIFx2 (coaxial/optical) Audio outx1、AV 3.5x1、USB3.0x1、HDMI2.0/ARCx1、HDMI2.0x2, It basically covers all kinds of use scenarios.

In the middle of the bottom is the product label page. You can see some details of Mijia laser projection TV. The rated voltage/current is 200-240V~/2A, and the maximum power given by the official is 250W.

The remote control uses black and white color contrast design. The button layout is very similar to that of Xiaomi TV. It also supports app remote control.

The whole machine weighs 7kg, and an adult male can basically grasp it with one hand. Among so many similar products, Mijia laser projection TV is relatively small.

Actual performance

At the press conference, it was only mentioned that the brightness of the light source reached 5000 lumens (there are many misunderstandings here, one is that this refers to the brightness of the light source, not the brightness of the actual projection; the other is that the unit of this "lumen" does not know whether Michaelis adopts our national standard or the international ANSI). Since the parameters given by the official are ambiguous, it can only be explained by the actual performance.

In the live shot during PS4 play, Mijia's laser projection TV is projected on the screen at this time. In an open and sunny environment, the light and dark details can be seen clearly, which does not affect the play. It can be said that Mijia's performance is good. It is worth mentioning that the Mijia laser projection TV that has not stopped in the game experience area is under such a high load, and the temperature near the cooling hole is almost the same as that of the traditional projector. There is no problem that other domestic brand laser TVs are overheated.

With the group photo of the early generation PS4, we can see that Mijia's laser projection TV is not much larger than the PS4. Why is it not the PS4 Pro? After all, the standard resolution of the DMD chip customized by Mijia and Texas Instruments is 1080P, which does not reach 4K (after checking the official website of Texas Instruments, it is found that the same parameter as Mijia's introduction is DLP4710, and I don't know whether it is this DMD). It is not meaningful to use PS4 Pro.

Direct projection on the white wall, the detail and color performance is naturally inferior to that on the screen, but the overall performance is commendable, the details are basically no problem, the color restoration is acceptable, and this is in an open environment. If the external light brightness can be reduced, the performance will be better. More importantly, under this low load projection, the heat dissipation of Mijia laser projection TV seems to be in a "strike" state, and only when it is close to the cooling hole can a little warm wind be barely felt.

The completely shadowed viewing effect (the entrance and exit of the scene are always open, so there will still be the influence of light from the entrance and exit). The first feeling is big. Although it is inferior to watching in the cinema, it does feel like coming from the front; The second is the color performance. It looks more colorful to the naked eye, and it is not clear whether it is deliberately adjusted; Finally, there is a small defect. With a projection area of 150 inches, 1080P still feels a little inadequate. The details are not satisfactory. If it can reach 4K, it would be better.

tail

As a laser projector priced at 9999, Mijia laser projection TV has brought many surprises to the author. First, its size and weight are well controlled, which is very suitable for positioning small home theaters; The second is that the heat dissipation control is much better than the similar products of other domestic brands. Of course, because the on-site experience time is limited, I don't know whether automatic shutdown will be easily triggered after a long time of high load use; The third is that the projection quality is basically satisfactory. Although the official parameters of brightness are basically not stated, the actual performance is good, and the details and color performance are biased to please the eye. It may be more appropriate for a non professional projection.

It is difficult to judge the noise during operation due to the impact of the site environment, but the subjective feeling is OK. The fan sound is somewhat obvious under high load. There are also some shortcomings. As a laser projector, it usually has a corresponding metal screen for matching. It's ok if Michaelis doesn't have a bundled package, but it's a bit hard to understand without a matching metal screen; In addition, 1080P resolution is really hard for 150 inch projection area, especially now that everyone is used to high split screen equipment, Mijia may consider introducing a 4K high configuration version (The DMD of Texas Instruments is already ready)
