In the afternoon of May 4, it was reported that Yang Zhe, former president of TCL Mobile China and former CMO of Huawei's terminal, joined Meizu as CMO. Li Nan, Meizu's vice president in charge of marketing, will be the president of Meilan Branch.
Yang Zhe joined Huawei China in 2012 and served as the CMO of Huawei terminals. The advertising concepts of "Jazz Life" and "Gentlemen like orchids" established Huawei's high-end brand image. In October 2015, he left Huawei and served as TCL's global COO and president of China to manage the mobile phone business in China. However, at the end of last year, Yang Zhe was dismissed by TCL because of his sales performance.
Li Nan joined Meizu in 2013, and was promoted to vice president with the following year to take charge of marketing and sales business. During this period, she created Meilan brand. However, Meizu's situation in 2016 was not optimistic. Many product lines expanded, frequent new product launches and continuously promoted offline layout made many moves, but the overall mobile phone sales did not increase significantly, and a large part of them were in the hands of channel operators.
Although Meilan series has brought Meizu good sales, it has also established the image of Meizu as a low-end brand to consumers to a certain extent, which is obviously inconsistent with the goal of Huang Zhang, CEO of China Jobs.
Yang Zhe's joining Meizu can be said to reflect Huang Zhang's pursuit of Meizu's high-end mobile phone brand. If the news is true, Meizu will soon launch a "young people's business plane".
