Still use Kindle to read books? Sony Releases New Electronic Ink Tablet DPT-RP1

Although people are reading books on the subway with Amazon Kindle, Sony's Library is actually the first E-Ink reader in the world, which is better than the first generation Kindle( November 2007 )It was released three years earlier in 2004. A few days ago, Sony announced the launch of a new generation of 13.3-inch electronic paper tablet computer DPT-RP1, which costs about $719.

Compared with the previous generation DPT-S1, DPT-RP1 has many improvements:

  • The display is still 13.3 inches, but the resolution is improved from 1200 x 1600 to 1650 x 2200.

  • The screen adopts a "anti-skid" panel design, so that users can have a better experience when they use the attached digital pen to make handwritten notes on the screen.

  • The new device is also thinner, lighter and faster than the previous version. Sony said that the DPT-RP1 is as thick as 30 pages of paper.

  • Sony has developed a new Digital Paper App for desktop computers, which can convert websites and documents into PDF format and send them to the DPT-RP1 device via wireless connection. DPT-RP1 still only opens PDF files.

The target users of DPT-RP1 are still enterprises, lawyers and university researchers, who have a strong demand for paper reduction. The new equipment will be officially launched in Japan on June 5, with a price of about 80000 yen (about 719 dollars). Consumers will be able to purchase DPT-RP1 directly in Sony retail stores.
