Appearance design

This time, the Xiaomi tablet is back to the MT8176 of MediaTek on the ARM platform. It can be said that the processor of the Xiaomi tablet is the same from generation to generation. Although the CPU performance is not weak, the PowerVR GX6250 is slightly inferior to the current mainstream SoC. It can be seen that the MT8176 is at the bottom of both GFXBench and 3D Mark. Even though there is no big gap in absolute performance, Xiaomi Tablet 3 is different from mobile phones after all. For example, the 7.9-inch 2048x1536 retina screen itself has higher requirements for GPU. In retrospect, the MT8176 was a product at the beginning of 2016 after all, and we certainly forgive it for such performance.


The more embarrassing fact is that the performance of single core and multi-core CPUs is improving, but the GPU performance of the Xiaomi tablet is weaker from generation to generation. It is understandable that the performance of the second generation Xiaomi Tablet 2 has declined due to the replacement of the X86 architecture. But it is also the ARM architecture. It is a bit unreasonable that the third generation product is much weaker than the original generation.


Xiaomi Tablet 3 is equipped with MIUI 8.2 based on Android 7.0, which can be said to be the first Xiaomi device manufactured from Android 7.0. The overall use of MIUI is no different from that of other Xiaomi machines. Only the layout of the interface is slightly changed to fit the larger screen. These changes are familiar to users of Xiaomi tablet.
