Notebook Gospel, Win10 Background Power Control Function Returns

Both Microsoft and Intel have started to optimize mobile and power consumption under the mobile wave. After Microsoft's fiasco in win8 RT, which can run on ARM chip devices that year, win10 has successively added power saving mode, game mode and other functions for power consumption control. In January this year, Windows 10 build 15002 added Power Throttling( The system background task power consumption control) function, the official said that under extreme conditions, the CPU power consumption can be reduced by 11%, but then there was no news in the February update.

However, on April 19, in build 16176 (the latest compiled version of Windows 10 Redstone 3), this function "returned". The most obvious feature is that there are more background settings in the task manager. It prioritizes the response of foreground programs by reducing the access of background tasks to CPU resources. The system also provides relevant APIs for developers.

Because its bottom layer relies on Intel's Intel Speed Shift function, this function has more restrictions. Now only the sixth generation Intel processors (Skylake and above) can use this function. Microsoft said it will add more processor support in the coming months.
