Although Sony Mobile's mobile phones are not selling well, Sony itself has always been known for its black technology, but as a major manufacturer, it is still involved in patent disputes from time to time. In November 2016, Wireless Future Technologies Inc sued Sony Mobile in Nanjing Intermediate People's Court, claiming 8 million yuan and stopping selling two infringing Xperia Z5 phones. However, Sony is a manufacturer in the first half of the year, and the defendant's Xperia Z5 model has long been off the market after the court's judgment.
In the afternoon of March 22, Sony's defendant Shi added another record: the Beijing Intellectual Property Court ruled in the first instance that Sony China infringed the WAPI standard patent of Xidian Jietong, and must immediately stop infringing the patent rights involved in the case, and compensate Xidian Jietong for its economic loss of 8629173 yuan and reasonable expenses of 474194 yuan, totaling 9103367 yuan for both cases.
The case was accepted on July 2, 2015, involved The patent number is ZL02139508. X The latter is a valid patent applied by Xidian Jietong on November 6, 2002 and authorized for announcement on March 2, 2005.
Sony China argued that the parts of the alleged infringing product that realize the WAPI function came from the chip supplier, and Sony assembled the WAPI chip provided by the chip supplier into the mobile phone without using the patent involved in any link of production. Xidian Jietong has licensed Qualcomm and Broadcom to provide products that realize WAPI functions. This product is a proprietary product, so Sony will use this proprietary product reasonably after purchasing it. No matter what kind of license the chip supplier obtains or whether it charges fees, Sony's patent rights will be absolutely exhausted. It is unknown whether Sony will appeal.
