NVIDIA recently released its new embedded development module - Jetson TX2. This development module is aimed at UAVs, autonomous vehicles, medical industrial equipment, etc. This development module is an upgraded product of TX1, also equipped with Linux system.
In terms of processor, TX2 is upgraded from Tegra X1 of TX1 to Tegra Parker processor. The processor is made of 16nm process and designed with 6 cores. The CPU part is composed of 2 Denver cores and 4 A57 cores. The GPU adopts Pascal architecture and has 256 CUDAs. The floating point performance is 1.5TeraFLOPS, which is about 50% higher than the GPU of the old Tegra X1.
There are also some upgrades in memory. TX1 is equipped with 4GB running memory, while TX2 is loaded with 8GB LPDDR4 running memory, 32GB eMMC built-in storage, supporting SATA/USB 3.0/Wi Fi/Bluetooth, etc., and video supports 4K 60Hz (HEVC) encoding and 4K 60Hz (12bit) decoding.
In terms of processor performance, NVIDIA claims that its processing performance is much stronger than that of most existing mobile phone processors. Compared with A9X, Kirin 950 and Exynos8890, NVIDIA's processing performance is about 67% higher, and compared with Snapdragon 820's, NVIDIA's processing performance is up to 150% higher. The processing performance can fully meet the requirements of high-performance UAVs. In addition to the performance improvement, the power consumption of TX2 is slightly lower than that of TX1, from 10W to 7.5W.
In terms of selling price, only 299 dollars (about 2063 yuan) is sold to educational users, 599 dollars (about 4133 yuan) is sold to ordinary users, and 399 dollars (about 2753 yuan) is sold to thousands of units and above.
