Downlink up to 1.2Gbps! Qualcomm Releases X20 Baseband

Qualcomm released Snapdragon X16 LTE at the beginning of 2016, which is also the world's first LTE-A Pro baseband product, supporting 1Gbps gigabit download rate. It is the world's first mobile communication baseband that has exceeded 1Gbps. This communication baseband will also be integrated into Qualcomm's next-generation flagship SoC Snapdragon 835. Recently, Qualcomm has made persistent efforts to release a more powerful X20 baseband. The X20 released this time not only makes further progress in communication speed, but also supports LTE broadcasting, EVS encoded ultra HD voice, and dual card dual VoLTE (DSDV), Dual 4G cards can realize high-definition voice at the same time.

The Snapdragon X20 communication baseband will be manufactured using the 10nm LPE process provided by Samsung. The theory of the maximum downlink speed can support LTE Cat.18, that is, the download speed can reach 1.2Gbps. The standard we can easily understand is 150MB/s. Of course, this also requires the support of 4G networks. X20 supports up to five 20MHz carrier aggregation with a total bandwidth of 100MHz. It also supports 4x4 (3CA) MIMO and up to 12 spatial streams. However, the modulation is still 256 QAM.

In terms of upload speed, it remains the same as X16. It is still the LTE Cat.13 standard. The theoretical maximum rate is 150Mbps, or 18.75MB/s. It supports dual 20MHz carrier aggregation and 64-QAM.
