Bus card and flash payment, Ticwatch 2 NFC 10000 words detailed review

In November 2016, Ticwatch 2 NFC was released together with its own car mounted smart rear-view mirror. Its crowdfunding version started shipping on January 17, 2017 and is now available for purchase on JD. The main improvements of Ticwatch 2 NFC are Classic Ticwatch 2 (with 3G function) Join NFC, support bus card and UnionPay flash payment function, machine For the time being, only the silver dial with black strap is available.

The hardware specification of Ticwatch 2 NFC has almost remained unchanged. Except for the Ticpay mobile payment app and endurance, the rest can be directly applied to us Love to play computer games Detailed review of Ticwatch 2 half a year ago Detailed Evaluation of Ticwatch2 Smart Watch, the Most Powerful in China , so The first half of this article mainly describes the major projects that affect daily performance, such as "appearance, mobile phone client, tiwear system, and endurance", plus the experience of using Ticwatch 2 in the past six months.

The second part is the focus of this evaluation, mainly focusing on the new bus card and UnionPay flash payment function, which will be mixed with a large number of mobile payment related content such as NFC module and Apple Pay, which can be viewed as popular science.

Appearance and workmanship

Compared with Ticwatch 2 half a year ago, Ticwatch 2 NFC is mainly packaged with UnionPay flash payment stickers, including instructions, 5V/1A charging head, data cable, and magnetic wireless charging base.

Ticwatch 2 NFC is very similar to a traditional watch in appearance, shape and weight. The stainless steel dial has a brushed pattern, The glass is slightly higher than the dial, There is a polished decorative surface on the outside of the glass. The black plastic back cover with polished surface makes it thinner in machine vision.

Aesthetics vary from person to person. Compared with similar products, the main advantage of Ticwatch 2 NFC is that it is smaller, the screen frame is well controlled, and the 20mm strap is slightly narrower than the 22mm strap of Android wear platform and the 42mm dial version of Apple Watch. Users with thinner wrists will not have much sense of discord when wearing it.

In terms of wearing, the weight of Ticwatch 2 NFC is close to that of the small and medium-sized mechanical watch. It feels slightly dragged when it is swung. The back is made of plastic and has an arc transition. It has a good touch and a light sense of foreign objects. However, the polished surface is bound to stick to the skin when sweating. The watchband is narrower than similar products, but it is thicker and harder, which drags the back leg of wearing feeling. The most comfortable one to wear is the pleasing version with aluminum dial and silicone strap (without 3G function, the price is 200 yuan lower).

Ticwatch 2/Ticwatch 2 NFC uses 20mm quick release universal watchband

Because the appearance and workmanship are exactly the same as those of Ticwatch 2, here's how Ticwatch 2 feels after six months of use:

The left is the watchband that has been used for half a year, and the right is the new watchband

  1. Watch strap: The black leather watch strap is far more durable than expected. After six months of use, except for "self bending" and buckle marks, there is no peeling, dyeing, bleaching and other problems;

  2. Dial: The main problem with the body is the durability of the polished edges. The scratch resistance of gorilla glass is good. The author has worn it for half a year without scratches, but there are many scratches on the polished bright edge on the outside of the glass, and there are also scratches on the brushed surface on the outside, but the number is much less, and it is not obvious on the polished surface;

  3. Screen glass: The glass is slightly higher than the dial. The advantage is that the touch control of the screen is more comfortable. The gorilla glass with higher hardness can protect the polished surface on the edge when it is reversed. The disadvantage is that it really increases the chance of mistakenly touching and lighting the screen. About the problem of software anti false touch, the system part will explain in detail later;

  4. Back: The back also has the problem of durability of the polished surface. The plastic material is easier to be scratched by the dust on the desk, but the back is not visible at ordinary times, which does not affect the use;

    The top is the speaker hole, and the bottom is two symmetrical double microphone holes

Mobile app and function

main interface

4.8 Updated motion interface of beta version

Ticwatch 2 NFC mobile phone client has made major changes to the sports health part in the 4.8 beta version. The rest of the parts are not different from those half a year ago. The notification control, sports, dial and other functions are placed in the form of modules. In terms of system, ticwear is the only customized system based on Android Wear in China. The bottom layer is Android 5.1, and the factory version is ticwear 4.7 stable version.

Compared with the native and Chinese versions of Android Wear, tiwear has more grounding enhancement functions such as "touch screen lighting, wrist turning control, screen locking password, timed power saving, hot word voice wake-up, and message cloud synchronization". In the case that the Chinese version of Android Wear has been slow to improve, and the Android Wear 2.0 released on February 9 has not added many functions that meet the national conditions of the mainland, the situation of tiwear has not changed significantly.

At the end of October 2016, ticwear introduced the "beta development stable" level of mobile phone systems such as MIUI to conduct system iteration in a cycle close to the monthly shift, and the newly introduced functions will be lowered to the stable version layer by layer. Switching to internal beta requires official review, and users can switch between stable and development versions.

The latest version was ticwear 4.2 half a year ago. On February 13, the deadline, the latest test version had iterated to ticwear 4.8.0_b1, which is the only system in the watch field that has been updated at such a high speed. Several updates introduced“ Timed power saving, Doze (tombstone mode of forced backstage sleep) local music, touch optimization, touch keyboard, new sports app ”It will be more innovative and expectant than similar products.

Of course, this mechanism is not perfect. In addition to the regret that the stable and development versions need to be replaced together with the mobile app, it still does not support the downgrade function similar to the mobile phone system (the author still misses the November beta version, which has a quick response and a limited service life of nearly 4 days when connected to the mobile phone).

For details of the system, see the previous detailed comments Detailed Evaluation of Ticwatch2 Smart Watch, the Most Powerful in China For the system part of Ticwatch 2 NFC, only the parts different from similar products and the improvements made half a year ago are described here:

  1. Independent dialing and SMS: Ticwatch 2/Ticwatch 2 NFC is equipped with a sim card of Minsheng Communication (using the 3G network of Unicom). Users can dial, send and receive SMS messages, and surf the Internet (mainly for receiving messages from mobile phones, cloud push, voice search, and map services) after selecting numbers and recharging on the Internet. Essentially and functionally, it is the same as an ordinary mobile phone, which can bypass the ban of not carrying mobile phones in schools (cover your face)

  2. Independent music playing: the system sets aside 800m space for storing local music, and uses its own speakers to play music without mobile phones and networks;

  3. Independent connection to Bluetooth devices: In addition to being an accessory Bluetooth device of mobile phones, Ticwatch 2 NFC can independently add third-party Bluetooth devices such as Bluetooth headsets and speakers. After connecting the Bluetooth headset, the user can leave the phone and go out for sports directly with the help of the call forwarding and the GPS.

  4. Sound recorder: as the name implies, it supports the customization of sound quality and duration. The recording will be stored in the watch body.

  5. Voice Assistant: This is the core function of ticwear. As the voice service provider of the Chinese version of Android wear, the voice experience on Ticwatch is better than the former. It supports simple dialogue and connection between upper and lower sentences, and has a fast recognition speed, sensitivity, noise filtering and other recognition experiences. In addition to its own "search" engine capability, it can be used to directly generate routine reminders, countdown, navigation, taxi taking and other common operations. To do reminders are generated by voice, which is the main driving force for the author to charge it every 2/3 days;

  6. Wrist turning gesture operation: by turning the wrist, you can control the notification bar, switch shortcut cards, call out voice assistant and other operations. Compared with the half year version, its recognition of functions such as a single wrist roll call notification card is much higher, and it has reached the point of being usable, but the usual usage rate is too low and the learning cost is slightly higher.

  7. Deflection side operation: This function, which was introduced by the early generation of Ticwatch, is similar to the rotating crown of Apple Watch and is mainly used to scroll pages. The 4.8.0 beta system also added the function of double clicking to switch songs, but it still cannot work independently (the return operation can only be completed by sliding the screen), and the availability is average.

Unfortunately, the accuracy of the Ticwatch 2 NFC even compass is the same as that of the previous generation, which is still inaccurate, affecting the experience of using watch navigation.

Hands up, endurance and charging

As a watch, time watching is the most basic function. However, for smart watches with limited battery life and touch screen, the availability of raising the hand to light the screen and the prevention of false touch of the screen are very important. The screen lightening speed of Ticwatch is affected by the firmware. In the system version in November 2016, Ticwatch had a fairly good screen lightening speed. However, the Ticwatch 2 NFC in the 4.7 stable version and 4.8 development version is at a lower middle level. There is still a gap between Ticwatch 2 NFC and Apple Watch, Gear Fit2, fitbit Charge2 and other products that are at a faster speed, which makes the author miss the old version of the system.

The Ticwatch 2 NFC screen is slightly higher than the dial, which increases the probability of false touch to a certain extent. The software anti false touch basically affects the sensitivity/speed of the touch screen. These are the two ends of the balance, and the official is obviously more inclined to prevent false touch. After the 4.7 stable version, the official added a very exaggerated anti accidental touch. In addition to the fact that the screen will not light up when the finger sweeps across a large area of the screen, the speed of light up when the screen is clicked quickly also slows down.

In terms of endurance, the added NFC and related modules will consume more power (NFC is normally open by default and can be manually closed, but it will lead to the failure of bus card and flash payment functions), and the range is acceptable. Before and after the Ticwatch 2 NFC function is turned on/off, 9% and 8% of the 7-hour static standby are powered down respectively. Under the "15 hour normal mode+9 hour power saving mode", the NFC module generally consumes about 5% more power every day, which is more than that of the Ticwatch 2 under the same situation.

In the 4.8 beta version, only two apps are installed: power monitoring and electronic business card. When the twilight is off, 3G and wifi are turned off, and the wrist lock screen is turned on and the phone is connected, the actual power down speed is close to that of Ticwatch2 before the 4.6 stable version, which is about 2-3% per hour. Of course, the more you move around and light the screen, the faster the power goes down. When the author walks 3km every day and sits on the computer for office work in the rest of the time, about 60% of the electricity will be left after 24 hours, which can be charged every two days calmly.

If the touch screen and NFC function are turned off, the limit service time of the connected mobile phone can be close to 3 days. Although this performance is better than Apple Watch, it is only at the middle level among similar products. Considering that Ticwatch 2 is in the old version of firmware, the limited service life in the same situation can be close to 4 days, and there is still room for improvement in the life of Ticwatch 2 NFC.

Daily use and charging record curve

In terms of charging, Ticwatch 2 NFC is one of the smartwatches with the fastest charging speed in active service. The Qi standard magnetic base is used for wireless charging, which can be used as the Qi standard charging base for general mobile phones and other smart products. Ticwatch 2 NFC is different from mobile phones. Its charging curve is close to a straight line, and there is almost no trickle charging process. Its limit charging speed is the same as that of Ticwatch, which can reach about 1.6% per minute. 0-100% charging takes 65 minutes. The charging speed using the 5V/0.5A USB interface of the computer is slightly slow, about 1% per hour, and 0-100% takes about 100 minutes.

NFC science popularization

The full name of NFC is Near Field Communication, which evolved from RFID and interconnection technology and was jointly developed by Philips and Sony in 2003. In 2004, they and Nokia established the NFC Forum Association, which is used to establish and promote NFC technical standards. The first NFC enabled mobile phone Nokia 6131 was released in 2006, and the first NFC enabled Android phone was the Nexus S released in 2010. To this day, China Mobile, Huawei ZTE, Xiaomi Meizu, vivo, OPPO and other manufacturers are members of the NFC Forum.

NFC operates at 13.56MHz, and the distance of effective data transmission rate is only about 10cm (in fact, the NFC distance between bus cards and mobile phones is generally less than 5cm). The advantage is that data can be read and exchanged directly without the troublesome pairing process, which can be understood as an interconnection technology that uses transmission distance to "exchange" power consumption and security. Its pairing speed is less than 0.1ms. As a comparison, Bluetooth takes about 6 seconds and infrared takes 0.5 seconds. NFC has three working modes: active, passive and two-way, respectively corresponding to three working modes: card reader in mobile phone and smart watch/bracelet (such as mobile phone reading bus card balance), card simulation (such as mobile phone simulating bus card, access card), and P2P (such as point-to-point data transmission like Bluetooth).

NFC hardware consists of CLF (non connected front-end module), RF antenna and SE (Secure Element security area). The common bus card balance reading can be completed by using the CLF+antenna. If the mobile phone/watch is simulated as a bus card (air card issuing and recharging), the SE part needs to be added. The read objects, such as NFC tags, bus cards/access cards, are driven by electric power generated by coil induction, so they do not need batteries and can be very small in size and weight. Even if it works in the card reader mode, because the RF working distance is very short, its power consumption is also very low, and the power consumption is far lower than that of Bluetooth when it is normally open.

At present, on Android/Apple platforms, NFC is most widely used for bus cards and UnionPay cloud flash payment. In addition to the HCE flash payment (which can be used by Android 4.4+NFC+bank app), which appeared earlier but has a much smaller reputation, the most famous applications are Apple Pay, Samsung Smart Pay, Xiaomi Pay and Huawei Pay, which can be flash paid with mobile phones after binding bank cards.

In addition, there is an NFC simulation problem about access cards. Access cards can be roughly divided into IC cards and ID cards. Simple access cards can also be read by mobile phones/watches and simulated by NFC to replace cards. Complex access cards, including UID, sector, keya/b, data and other data, cannot be simulated. Try to read the UID of the card with TagInfo and other apps.

Bus card function

In 2015, there were a number of products that supported some city bus cards, such as the StarWrist smart watch, the Sharkey smart watch, the Tigerfish watch, and the Xingli payment bracelet (which also supports flash payment) launched by Industrial Bank. It is estimated that many people have never heard of it. In essence, they are "special-shaped cards" in the bus cards, which are essentially different from the products adopting NFC "card simulation mode".

Products such as brush bracelet really have built-in bus cards. In an environment where almost large cities in China have their own bus cards, bus cards between cities are not universal, which directly leads to such products having Lingnantong, all-in-one card and other versions, and cannot be used in the other's field. and The advantage of NFC simulation of bus cards is that the same device can be simulated into bus cards in different cities, even access cards, meal cards and other cards by changing internal data, so as to complete the task of using one device in multiple cities. The simplest two types of bus cards on smart products are:, Mobile phones and Ticwatch 2 NFC can "install" multiple bus cards at the same time, but similar products such as brush bracelets can only install one card.

For the time being, only Android and Android Wear platforms support NFC simulation of public transport cards, and the supporting devices include Samsung Smart Pay/Huawei Pay/Xiaomi Pay machines, one plus 3/3T (after the sixth version of the hydrogen OS public beta system, only Beijing all-in-one card is supported for the time being, and Xiaomi uses snowball technology solutions), while smart watches only have Ticwatch 2 NFC and True time Pacewear smart watch (Pace OS is the predecessor of Tencent OS, and the bottom layer is also Android) It is a type of NFC simulation. The Huawei watch 2 launched at the end of February may also be equipped with the same function. The Samsung Gear S3 is also supported on hardware, but the bus card function is not available in China.

Card opening and recharging

The public beta of Huawei Pay's bus card function at the end of August 2016 only supports Shanghai for the time being; Xiaomi Pay was officially launched on September 1, claiming to support 34 city all-in-one cards, which is the largest number currently supported, but some cities and some models have not yet been launched The public transport card of Samsung Smart Pay was officially launched in December 2016, and temporarily only supports Beijing and Shanghai. At the beginning of the service launch, Samsung and Xiaomi had 1 yuan and free card opening subsidies respectively.

At present, Ticpay supports Beijing all-in-one traffic card and Shenzhen Tong, and the official announced that it will successively open the bus card function in Guangdong (Lingnan Tong), Shanghai and other cities later. In the payment module of the mobile phone client, you can select the bus cards in Beijing and Shenzhen, and directly select the purchase and recharge amount. The card opening fees in Beijing and Shenzhen are 29 yuan and 25 yuan respectively. The card opening fees are similar to those of Xiaomi/Samsung and other manufacturers, which are more expensive than physical cards. The first card opening time is slightly longer, and it requires networking and restarting the watch.

In terms of recharging and query, the ticwear client can recharge the bus card and query the last 10 transaction records (which would be a killer function if placed in the past), or recharge with the "Pengtao" in Shenzhen, the "eLechong" in Beijing, or even the city all-in-one card of Alipay (but it has many compatibility problems), just like ordinary bus cards.

NFC bus card experience and sensitivity

The public transportation and flash payment functions of Ticwatch 2 NFC rely on the sensitivity of its built-in NFC coil, which is directly related to the number and size of the machine's chips and induction coils. In addition, the NFC card reader has a dwell time, which is a little far away, but a longer dwell time can still enable the NFC chip to "save" enough power to work. The actual recognition distance should be about 5cm. If it is too far, it is easy to be read by mistake (revealing privacy or being "swiped" carelessly).

The NFC sensitivity of Ticwatch 2 NFC is good. The testing machine is Galaxy Note5 of the National Bank ROM, and the actual read limit transmission distance is about 5cm, On the bus and subway in Shenzhen, the reading distance is also about 5cm, It is slightly farther than most bus cards, meal cards and entrance guards on the market. But NFC is really a very weak RF signal. The sleeve across the thin coat will reduce the transmission distance to less than 1cm, or even cannot be read. Instead, when crowding the bus, just like the physical card, don't get too close to the card reader to avoid being scanned by mistake.

Ticwatch 2 NFC brushes Shenzhen bus

Ticwatch 2 NFC brush Shenzhen Metro

It is more difficult to persuade shop assistants to use Shenzhen Tong payment than flash payment

The virtual bus card and physical card of Ticwatch 2 NFC have the same discounts for traveling and shopping. The entire use experience is no different from the physical card worn on the hand. The default state of Ticwatch 2 NFC is to simulate as a bus card, which can be directly swiped without networking, phone connection, and any operation You can directly view the balance of the bus card on the mobile phone.

What is more special in use is that the watch is usually worn on the left hand, and the position is not as free as the bus card. When getting on the subway, the left hand extended to the right card reader. In addition to being a bit strange, it was also a bit forced. It is worth noting that, The watch can still work normally within 12 hours after it is powered off. If the NFC is turned off manually before shutdown, there will be no NFC function after shutdown. The machine may divide part of the power for NFC module operation, resulting in the actual available power being slightly smaller than Ticwatch 2, thus affecting the endurance.

NFC bus restrictions and use scope

Limitations: Due to the security considerations of the bus card issuer and the bank, the bus card and bank card are bound to hardware, not user accounts. Once it is opened, the bus card will be bound to the mobile phone itself. The bus card will still be available after the phone is swiped, but after the phone is changed, the bus card cannot be transferred to the new mobile phone with the account. Most regrettably, no matter the scheme of physical card or NFC analog card is adopted, the original bus card cannot be bound, and a new bus card has to be reopened, and card refund is not supported.

Another "restriction" comes from the bus card itself, a tool that needs to work steadily and quickly. When you recharge and punch in, you can erase the internal data without networking, registered authentication, or loss reporting. It is like paper money. If you lose it, you really lose it. No matter who it is, you can pick it up and use it directly.

In fact, the use of bus cards is much more than people think. In addition to bus and subway, Beijing's parking lots/indoor parks/gas stations/some special stores, Shanghai's ferries, Suzhou's living fees/libraries/special merchants, Wuhan's airport expressways/ferries/special merchants, Hangzhou's roadside parking, Guangzhou's ferries/meter parking/special stores/some supermarkets and convenience stores, They are all unexpected functions, but they hate meeting each other too late.

Summary: Ticwatch 2 NFC, as the only smart watch in China that supports the function of NFC simulated bus card, has the same technical essence and usage as Xiaomi, Huawei, Samsung and other mobile phones. Now even the card opening fee is very close. Good NFC sensitivity, in return for high availability. Its advantage is that it can save a physical card, never forget to carry it on your hand, and the phone does not need NFC module and service provider support. For non Beijing and Shenzhen users, this function is the only one, but the biggest limitation is the expansion speed of bus card support types (the official announced that Guangdong Lingnantong and Shanghai bus cards will be opened later).

UnionPay flash payment science popularization

UnionPay Quickpass is a contactless payment product based on bank cards launched by UnionPay, which corresponds to Paywave of Visa and Paypass of MasterCard. It is characterized by non-contact and password free micro payment, which is as simple and convenient as bus card. The current forms of flash payment, such as Apple Pay, are basically used by mobile phones instead of physical cards. The use process is to bind bank cards in mobile phones, and use small amount secret free, fingerprint or conventional passwords to consume through POS machines with flash payment targets.

NFC Product Form Table

Flash payment, after all, is a banking service with high requirements for security. In the field of intelligent hardware, around security and NFC, there are two main technical routes of flash payment: TSM and HCE. Their core is the SE security module mentioned in the above NFC science popularization, corresponding to the physical and virtual SE modules respectively:

  1. TSM refers to Trusted Service Manager trusted service management, which has been applied on a large scale since 2014. In view of the status quo that early Android had NFC but no SE security module, manufacturers have "opened their minds" by integrating SE security module, SIM card/TF card and other means, so that mobile phones and smart devices can replace physical cards for flash payment. The early mobile phones mentioned above "simulate" Bus card is also one of the products of this technology.

  2. However, TSM is, after all, a solution that requires hardware replacement, and its actual implementation and impact are very limited. At about the same time point, after Google added HEC (Host Card Emulation) technical support to Android 4.4, UnionPay in the middle and late 15 years mainly promoted HCE flash payment. By using the cloud server as an SE module (the origin of "cloud" in cloud flash payment), NFC mobile phones without security modules can directly use flash payment without hardware SE.

Flash payment has gone through the following generations of development in just a few years:

  1. In the early days, the flash payment even used the method very much like a bus card, which requires users to go to the bank/ATM to deposit funds in an electronic cash account before using it;

  2. Later, in order to save the load process, the flash payment was merged into the bank account;

  3. Later, in order to save the trouble of carrying cards, the TSM and HEC technology paths mentioned above were derived. The NFC-SIM and NFC-SD cards equipped with security chips launched by UnionPay are designed to enable NFC mobile phones without SE module to provide flash payment function;

  4. In order to save users from the trouble of replacing sim cards and purchasing additional hardware, UnionPay launched HEC cloud flash payment at the end of 2015. Without hardware transformation, it only needs bank app+ordinary NFC mobile phones to provide the flash payment function.

  5. In addition to NFC, the flagship models of major mobile phone manufacturers such as Apple, Samsung, Huawei and Xiaomi have their own SE modules. Apple Pay and Samsung Smart Pay, which were launched in China in February 2016, and Huawei and Xiaomi Pay in August and September of the same year, were also classified as part of cloud flash payment by UnionPay.

UnionPay has great expectations for flash payment. In addition to the crazy "iteration speed" above, almost all bank cards/credit cards in active service have their own flash payment function. As for POS upgrading, UnionPay is also upgrading at a crazy speed. As early as 2015, the proportion of POS machines supporting flash payment has exceeded 60%, and the number of terminals has reached 10.5 million by the end of 2016. The People's Bank of China announced that all POS machines could support contactless payment in May 2017.

In essence, flash payment has been very convenient, but it has been very troublesome just to let users know how to use it. In addition to the need for POS upgrade, staff training, and poor promotion effect, cloud flash payment has not been popularized.

At the same time, the rapid popularity of Alipay and WeChat payment, which have failed to support UnionPay, made UnionPay flash payment very awkward before Apple Pay and other products came out. In addition, most merchants are estimated to be standing on the side of online payment such as Alipay/WeChat. After all, UnionPay charges merchants higher service fees when swiping cards (WeChat/Alipay's corporate service fees are not low, but the subsidies are strong, while individual merchants directly use personal collection QR codes, not even service fees) ... This has also indirectly led to the problem that many shop assistants do not use flash POS machines or are unwilling to use them.

These are the important reasons why UnionPay supports the services of several manufacturers so much. After all, the flash payment function of these mobile phone manufacturers is essentially a virtual bank card, an extension of the original bank card, which does not change the original mode of the bank, and transaction information will not bypass the bank like WeChat Alipay.

NFC flash function

In China, Ticpay is the fifth comparable product that can be called the number one except Apple/Samsung/Huawei/Xiaomi Payment. Ticwatch 2 NFC is the first smart watch in China to obtain the BCTC bank card detection center security payment certification. As a start-up intelligent product enterprise, this is already great. But when we go out, we only support Minsheng Bank, and only support debit cards, not credit cards. Its current bank card "compatibility" has greatly limited the practicability of this function. The official announced that they would support Bank of China, CITIC Bank, Bank of Beijing and other banks in succession.

Card opening process and card details

Minsheng secret free payment switch, WeChat transaction notification, official app security lock

Opening process: Similar to the other four mobile phone manufacturers, the mobile phone is bound with a bank card. Ensure that the mobile phone needs to be connected to the Internet and Bluetooth is on. During the process, the Ticwatch 2 NFC client will prompt to download the UnionPay security controls, input the bank card number, receive the verification code, and download the credit card data from the machine. The binding can be completed in 2-3 minutes.

Like similar products, in order to protect privacy, virtual cards with different card numbers and physical cards are generated in the process and consumed later, and the latter is more like an electronic supplementary card. At present, Ticwatch 2 NFC only supports debit cards of Minsheng Bank, but the machine itself can bind up to 8 bank cards/credit cards.

Ticwatch 2 NFC uses UnionPay flash payment in the convenience store

Place of use: Ticwatch 2 NFC can replace physical cards for consumption in any store that supports flash payment, and the consumption quota and password free settings are consistent with physical cards. In terms of use occasions, it is still aimed at users in first tier cities. After all, the usage rate of flash payment itself in second tier and third tier cities is not high. Although Carrefour/Whole Family/7-11/OK Convenience Stores/Watsons, McDonald's/KFC/Burger King and other large chains almost all have UnionPay flash payment POS machines, the full support of POS machines claimed by the People's Bank of China will have to wait five months, and even in Shenzhen, some small convenience stores and stores have no flash payment target for their POS machines, or their employees do not know what flash payment is, There are many shop assistants who do not understand the flash payment mode of POS machine

user's experience: Tell the cashier to use flash payment when consuming, and then they will choose a good mode. On the other hand, we open or double-click the crown to call out ticpay, select the bank card, and then stay at the "flash payment" sensing area of the POS machine for about half a second to complete the reading. In actual use, it takes about 3 seconds for the machine to turn off the screen and call out ticpay, which is fairly fast. Because 99% of the shop assistants did not know that the watch could swipe the card, they could not avoid the trouble that Apple Pay and Samsung Smart Pay explained to the cashier at the beginning.

After persuading the clerk to open the flash payment mode of POS, if the cashier is relatively long or there are many obstacles in front of the POS machine, the card swiping experience of the watch on the hand is not as comfortable as that of the physical card. But it's really easy not to take out the card, and it's worth the trouble when it's brushed. What's more, it's a good opportunity to brush the watch card. However, in terms of practicality, it is actually not as good as the Alipay code scanning payment function that has been introduced in the Ticwatch 2 era (store support is higher, and many small stores without POS machines support it). Code scanning does not need to stick a POS machine, nor does the cashier need to adjust the POS machine.

Because the debit card of China Minsheng Bank is open for secret free payment by default, and no password is required for consumption below 300 yuan. The use experience is the same as that of using a bus card. After the password free payment is closed manually, it is similar to the ordinary swiping card, requiring password and signature. In addition, in theory, Ticwatch 2 NFC should also be able to withdraw money from POS machines that support flash payment without a card, just like Huawei/Xiaomi Pay. However, the author has not yet found a Minsheng Bank ATM with a flash payment target, and welcomes conditional feedback from customers (because other manufacturers are not as well-known as Apple, and generally click the Apple Pay withdrawal button on the ATM).

Security

For flash payment, although most banks have a limit line of not more than 1000 per day and various kinds of claims, after the flash payment physical card is opened for non secret payment, it does not need password verification, and can be used directly when others find it. Previously, the big news related to this was the ETC swipe door on the car.

In terms of security, flash payment on intelligent devices should be more secure. The mobile phone has fingerprint protection, while Ticwatch 2 NFC uses an off wrist lock screen. The latter uses the sensor on the watch cover to detect whether it is taken off. Once it is taken off, it needs to be unlocked with a pattern. As long as the bank card is bound, it will be forced to enable this function. In actual use, the wrist lock screen is a little too sensitive and has little security concerns. I like to wear it loosely, but occasionally I will be prompted to unlock it

Because both bus cards and flash payments involve device security chips, after the machine is reset, Bound The bus card and bank card will still be in the machine. It may be that the bus company is considering the interests, Bank cards can be unbound and rebound manually, Bus cards cannot be unbound or rebound.

On Ticwatch 2 NFC, if the watch is lost, the machine will automatically trigger reset after the lock screen password is wrong for many times. If the bank card has been bound, it will enter the locked state, and the system can be reset only after the mobile client unbinds the bank card. As for the bank card, because the machine generates a virtual card, the loss of the card will not affect the use of the original card. However, it is recommended that the machine report the loss of the virtual bank card in a timely manner.

Limitations: Before supporting other bank cards, this is the biggest lifeline of Ticwatch 2 NFC flash payment function. After all, Apple/Samsung/Huawei/Xiaomi Pay can cover common banks. Moreover, Minsheng Bank itself has a low share, and there is a clear gap between the number of branches and the four major industrial/agricultural/China construction banks. If it weren't for the computer, the author would not have gone a few kilometers to open a card

Machine card opening process instruction

But these "small banks" are the most active to new technology. In the actual card opening process, the author first saw what is called a high-tech bank. Some Minsheng Sub branches are equipped with the machine shown above, and the whole card opening process is completed on the machine. Even after a week of hand cheap forget password to reset, also use this machine for remote customer service support, automation and speed experience praise.

Summary: The quickest way to recall Ticwatch 2 NFC's flash function is to double click the crown, which is slightly slower than Apple Pay and Samsung Smart Pay, and the card swiping sensitivity is similar. However, for the time being, it only supports Minsheng Bank and only has debit cards, which severely limits the scope of use. Before being popularized to other banks, this is more of a function of tasting new things and pretending to be forced. In terms of function and technology, the author has a positive attitude, but is not optimistic about the current use value of the flash function.

summary

The function orientation of Ticwatch 2 NFC is very clear. The extra 200 yuan difference is really just used to buy new bus cards and UnionPay flash payment functions (hardware design and cost, plus negotiation funds with banks/bus card issuers). it It is the first product in China and the only one with Huawei/Xiaomi pay functions in smart watches (Although Samsung Gear S3 supports Samsung Smart Pay, the bus card function has not yet been opened) Technically, it is worth praising The new NFC does have some impact on the endurance, but it provides switches and the impact is acceptable.

At the consumer level, compared with similar products, Ticwatch 2 NFC is the only smart watch that can temporarily add bus cards in multiple cities and smart watches in multiple banks (but now only supports debit cards of Minsheng Bank). Whether it's worth buying or not depends on whether you are a high-frequency user of bus cards and flash payment functions. If not, the author still suggests Ticwatch 2. Before Ticwatch 3 came out, it was still below the price of 2000 yuan. Now, there is no smart watch recommended by the author.
