In the era of non smart phones, we have far less requirements for mobile phones than we have now, which are limited to functions such as making phone calls and sending text messages. However, with the progress of modern society and the rapid development of technology, the functions and performance of mobile phones are becoming more and more powerful, and smart phones have greatly facilitated our lives. However, we are increasingly dependent on mobile phones, not only to complete traditional call communications, It also has to undertake many functions such as microblog and WeChat, web browsing, game entertainment, music playing, etc., so it also has higher requirements for mobile phone endurance.
In the past two years, the development speed of smart phones has changed with each passing day. Both the screen and the performance have achieved a leap forward improvement, but the battery technology has stagnated. For a long time, the battery has not achieved a leap forward development. New energy batteries are also difficult to replace the lithium batteries and lithium-ion batteries that have been used for many years in the short term.
However, as the mobile phone market has become more and more segmented, major manufacturers have begun to launch many models targeted at the market segment, such as the main selfie, endurance, security, and so on. Among them, the endurance is the most concerned by users. In the era of functional phones, the battery life of mobile phones is often close to one week, but after entering the era of smart phones, such battery life has gone forever.
In order to meet the requirements of some users for battery life, many mobile phone manufacturers have launched ultra long battery life phones, such as the Jinli M2017, which uses 7000mAh super capacity batteries. This is the smartphone with the highest battery capacity at present. Today we will test the performance of several high-capacity battery phones in the market in terms of battery life and fast charging.
Test model:
For this reason, we choose two commercially available battery models with large capacity: Jinli M2017, 5.7 inch AMOLED screen (2K) and Huawei Mate 9 Porsche design, 5.5 inch AMOLED screen (2K), and 4000mAh battery.
High strength endurance test:
Our test will be divided into two parts: high-intensity endurance test and endurance test. In the high-intensity test, we will use the traditional classic test items, namely, games, WiFi surfing, 4G surfing, music, and video, to test the power consumption performance of mobile phones in high-performance mode.
Before the test, we will uniformly adjust the screen brightness to 100 nits and the volume to 70-80dB, about 3/4 of the volume.
In game testing, we continue to choose NBA 2K15 as our evaluation game, which has high requirements for hardware performance, and can fully test the power consumption of mobile phones in the game state. Of course, if it is an ordinary game, such as card and cartoon games, the power consumption will be lower.
Next is half an hour of WiFi surfing, in which 10 minutes of microblogging, 10 minutes of Chrome, and 10 minutes of Baidu Post Bar browsing will be carried out to maximize our use in daily life.
3G/4G traffic online is also the most frequent use scenario in our daily use. Its power consumption is often higher than WiFi online, so its power consumption performance is equally important. The test items are the same as WiFi online items.
Video playing is also an important part of daily use. It is also common to watch TV plays, live broadcasts and small movies. We will play video for half an hour to test this part of power consumption.
With the development of smart phones, mobile phones have replaced most music devices such as MP3, so the power consumption of music playing is also worth paying attention, especially those models with independent DAC and op amp.
Among the several mobile phones we participated in the test, Huawei Mate 9 Porsche design had the lowest remaining power. After the three hour endurance test, the remaining power was 79%. Jinli M2017 has the most remaining power. After three hours of endurance test, it still has 88% of power. The endurance is very strong, and its 7000mAh battery contributes greatly to the endurance. The Samsung Galaxy A9 Pro, which is famous for its endurance, is closely followed, with 86% remaining power. The achievements of the Jinli M2017 can be said to be amazing, and it can also be called the peak of the endurance of the current smart phones on the market. In our endurance test records, it is also second only to the Jinli M5, its predecessor, which has stopped selling.
Standby endurance test:
In addition to the high-intensity violent endurance test, we will also carry out an 8-hour no-load endurance standby test. As we all know, mobile phones in standby mode will not only suffer from standby power consumption in the 3/4G network due to the influence of the base station, but also suffer from abnormal standby power loss caused by rogue applications resident in the background and mutual wake-up, Therefore, the no-load standby test is not only to investigate the communication baseband of a mobile phone, but also to test whether the system has a control mechanism for self start and associated wake-up.
Before the test, we will turn off all WiFi, turn on 4G data, clear background applications, turn on power recording, turn off the screen and enter standby mode, and then start the 8-hour standby endurance test.
We finally measured the results as above. In the form, we can see the standby life test results of several mobile phones. After eight hours of no-load life test, the Jinli M2017 surprisingly did not lose power, and its power was still 80%. It was only 1% lower at 17:33 that afternoon, when it had been in standby for 15.5 hours. Huawei Mate 9 Porsche design is not so amazing, but it only consumes 3% of the power, which is also quite excellent. It can be seen that most of the domestic mobile phones have done a good job in controlling the wake-up of background applications, and the several models participating in the test have not experienced abnormal standby power failure.
In the final summary results, we can see that after the 3-hour high-intensity endurance test+8-hour standby test, the largest remaining power is the Jinli M2017 with the largest battery capacity. The remaining power is still as high as 88%, far away from other models.
Although the optimization of software and hardware is self-evident for the endurance of mobile phones, we believe that through our endurance results, we can also roughly see that the battery capacity is positively correlated with the endurance, so the success of the Jinli M2017 with a battery capacity of up to 7000mAh in this round of testing is also expected.
As a super long endurance business model taking a differentiated path in the Jinli market segment, M2017's endurance is really amazing. After our high-intensity endurance test, the remaining power is 88%, which is far ahead of most mobile phones. It can be said that M2017 is the strongest in the current market.
Charging test:
In the subsequent charging test, the Jinli M2017 with the largest battery capacity only took 90 minutes to use the original charger from 0-85%, but after 85%, the trickle charge gradually slowed down, and the full charge shared 145 minutes. Then we switched to a third-party fast charging head, and the charging time was still not much different, only 153 minutes. Compared with the model with a battery capacity of 4000-4500 mAh, it only took about half an hour. The charging performance was quite good. Although the M2017 has an amazing 7000 mAh battery, users need not worry too much about the charging time.
In the range of 5% - 90%, the fastest charging is the Huawei Mate 9 Porsche design, which takes only one hour to charge to about 90%. However, the subsequent trickle charging slowed down significantly, and the final total charging time was about 120 minutes.
Summary:
The several models participating in this endurance test have shown quite strong quality. It is no exaggeration to say that these phones represent the strongest endurance camp of currently available smart phones. With the development of science and technology, the manufacturing process of SoC and flash memory chips is becoming smaller and smaller, the screen technology is becoming more and more advanced, the power consumption of core performance components is gradually reduced, and the endurance has been improved to a certain extent. Although the battery technology has not been greatly improved at present, through the reduction of power consumption of core components+large capacity battery of violent stacking+software and hardware optimization, we gradually have these models with very strong endurance today.
After completing all aspects of this endurance test, we were quite impressed by the super capacity battery equipped with the Jinli M2017 in this test. This differentiated model, which focuses on ultra long endurance, targeted business users with high requirements for endurance. Maybe it doesn't have super performance, but its aggressive appearance, exquisite workmanship, and luxurious metal+leather materials all meet the needs of business people. We have to say that the M2017 mobile phone is indeed full of gimmicks, and it is not too excessive to call it the annual peak of Jinli. Although this endurance test is over, we can see that there are still means to improve the endurance level of smart phones without leap forward improvement in battery technology. We hope that more and more models focusing on endurance will appear in the future development of smart phones.
