HTC released two new smart phones, HTC U Ultra and HTC U Play, on January 12. The former uses a dual screen design similar to V20.

The dual screen of HTC U Ultra consists of a 5.7 inch screen with a resolution of 2K+an IPS screen with a resolution of 160 × 1040, and is equipped with Snapdragon 821 processor. It is undoubtedly the strongest flagship model in service, while the positioning of U Play is relatively low, using MediaTek P10 and 5.2 inch 1080P screens.

In addition to the unexpected configuration, HTC abandoned the usual metal body, adopted an arc colored glass back cover, and added a special colored mineral layer under the glass. HTC called it "liquid surface", full of shiny luster. HTC Ultra offers four colors: bright black, pretty pink, ice white and sapphire blue.

HTC U Ultra adopts a 12 million pixel rear camera with a unit pixel area of 1.55 μ m. It is suspected to be a Sony IMX378 Exmor RS sensor. It has an upgraded hybrid auto focus system, and is equipped with PDAF and laser auto focus.

In addition to the upgrade of focusing mode, the camera is equipped with OIS optical anti shake, which can minimize the jitter during shooting. At the same time, it is also equipped with a lens with an aperture of up to f/1.8, which can not be underestimated.

In terms of configuration, HTC U Ultra adopts Snapdragon 821 processor. The processor frequency is similar to Pixel, and the tuning is conservative. The peak frequency is the same as Snapdragon 820. In terms of batteries, the U Ultra uses a 3000mAh battery with a body thickness of 7.99mm, and Qualcomm's Quick Charge 3.0 is used for fast charging.

In terms of interface, 3.5mm headphone interface is removed, and USB Type-C is used for data interface.

The HTC U Play with lower positioning does not have such a luxurious configuration. It uses a 5.2 inch 1080P screen+MediaTek P10, equipped with a 16 million pixel rear camera, and also has PDAF auto focus and OIS optical anti shake, with an aperture of f/2.0. What's more interesting is that its front camera is also 16 million pixels, which uses a super large pixel UltraPixel sensor to improve the low light performance. The aperture is also f/2.0 lens, and is equipped with a 28mm wide angle. In terms of batteries, HTC U Play has a 2500mAh built-in battery, which supports 5V/2A charging.

HTC U Play will be launched in the first quarter of 2017, with options of 3GB+32GB and 4GB+64GB. The HTC U Ultra is all equipped with 4GB running memory. In addition to the difference in capacity, there are differences in glass panels. The 64GB version uses the gorilla 5, while the 128GB version uses a harder sapphire panel. At present, U Ultra 64GB and U Play 64GB are open for booking on January 18. In terms of selling price, the price of U Ultra 128GB and 64GB in Taiwan is NT $28900 (equivalent to about RMB 6329) and NT $23900 (equivalent to about RMB 5234) respectively, while the price of U Play 64GB is NT $13900 (equivalent to about RMB 3044).
