South Korean prosecutors apply for the arrest of Lee Jae jung, the head of Samsung Group

According to the Yonhap news agency, South Korean prosecutors accused Lee Jae Rong, the leader of Samsung Group, of offering bribes in the scandal of South Korean President's cronies, and applied for the arrest of Lee Jae Rong on Monday (January 16). On January 12, on suspicion of bribing Cui Shunshi, the core figure of the "trusted politicians" incident, Lee Zai rong went to the South Korean Special Procuratorate Office and received 22 hours of "overnight" questioning. During the inquiry, the Special Inspection Unit only provided Lee Zai Rong with $5 worth of boxed lunch and fried noodles for lunch and dinner.

It is reported that South Korean prosecutors found several emails in Cui Shunshi's tablet about Samsung's financial support for Cui Shunshi's company established in Germany. South Korean prosecutors said that Samsung Group signed a consulting contract worth 22 billion won (about 18.3 million US dollars) with a German company owned by Cui Shunshi in August 2015, and provided the company with billions of won to fund the equestrian training of Cui Shunshi's daughter.

Samsung donated 20.4 billion won to Mir Consortium and K Sports Consortium, both of which are related to Cui Shunshi. The Korean prosecutors suspect that Samsung provided financial support to Cui Shunshi in exchange for the support of the Korean National Pension Corporation for the merger of its two subsidiaries. On July 17, 2015, the National Pension Corporation approved the merger of Samsung Property and First Woolen Fabric. Wen Hengpao, chairman of the Korean National Pension Corporation, was arrested last month because he was involved in the merger of Samsung's subsidiary.

Park Geun hye had a private meeting with Lee Jae rong on July 25, 2015, and the Korean prosecutors are also investigating whether Park Geun hye has participated in the merger transaction of Samsung subsidiary, which may be a bribery case.
