This time Moto Z is the closest to the blade. In addition to the characteristics of the blade, the Hasu module of Moto Z is also very "interesting". This time, in addition to testing the Moto Z stand-alone itself, we also conducted a detailed test on the photography of the Hasu module.

Moto Z adopts high-grade stainless steel back plate, blade design, and the frame of the body has a very metallic feel. Moto Z places the metal partition strip on the USB Type-C interface and the top two inconspicuous positions, making the whole machine more integrated. It's a pity that the camera on the back is too prominent and too large to really continue Moto's brilliant "blade spirit".


The 5.2mm lightweight body of Moto Z really can continue to give users a very good feel, especially its aluminum aerospace grade duralumin metal middle frame, which has a very delicate texture, but the drawback is that its back texture and prominent camera may not meet the taste of some users.

The Hasu module is the most concerned function module among the four modules of Moto Z. Moto Z equipped with the Hasu module will abandon the rear camera and directly use the Hasu module to shoot. The focal section of Hasselblad module is 4.5~45mm (equivalent 35mm focal section: 25~250mm), with 10 times optical zoom, aperture: F3.5~6.5, Manual ISO up to 3200, no optical anti shake, the module is equipped with a power/recording button, zoom wheel, xenon flash, auxiliary light.


When equipped with the Hasselblad module, the lens of Hasselblad will extend when the rear shooting is started, and the lens will retract only when the rear shooting is exited.


Like the other three modules, Hasu module is also connected with Moto Z through contacts, and the module and Moto Z are bonded by magnetic force.

Ironically, the thickness of the Hasu module is thicker than that of the Moto Z, especially the lens and handle. The thickness is 9~15.1mm. Fortunately, in actual use, the Moto Z equipped with the Hasu module can be easily put into the pocket.

Although the official claims that the maximum projection area is 70 inches, its projection resolution is only 854x480 (480p), the contrast is 500:1, and the brightness is 50 lumens. Moto Z is equipped with XX system which is very close to the native system. The Android system version is 6.0.1. There is no secondary menu and flat UI style. There are very few third-party apps pre installed in the system, only microblog WPS、 JD, Alipay. It can be said that the whole system is very simple.


performance

In terms of performance, although Moto Z uses Snapdragon 820+4GB LPDDR4, its Snapdragon 820 is not a full blooded version, and its maximum core frequency is only 1.82GHz. Although the official website indicates that its GPU frequency is 624MHz, in fact, the frequency is only 510MHz after checking with AIDA64, which indicates that this 820 is the same as the standard version of Xiaomi 5. In addition, the memory frequency of 4GB LPDDR4 of Moto Z is only 933MHz.

In the score scoring, Moto Z's low-frequency 820 will score lower than the normal 820. In actual use, it is quite different from most 820 mobile phones in terms of application loading speed, which has little impact on users who do not play games but only open WeChat, browser, Taobao and Weibo. Moto Z's flash memory read/write speed is eye-catching, and random read/write is among the best in 820 mobile phones today, especially random write speed. This may be due to the file system markup of F2FS, which can not help but remind people of the ultra-high random read/write speed brought by Huawei Mate 9's UFS2.1+F2FS.

In the daytime outdoor scene, we found that without optical zoom, The white balance performance of Hasselblad module is not ideal , there is a certain gap between iPhone 7 Plus and Moto Z native cameras. Moreover, this white balance problem is easy to reproduce, and it is not an individual case. When the sun shines on the ground, Hasu shows cool colors instead of warm colors.

Without zoom, It can be seen that the samples of the Hasselblad module have not been processed too much algorithm, and there are many original noise points The daytime resolution is basically the same as that of iPhone 7 Plus and Moto Z.

The effect of 10x optical zoom in outdoor daytime is very adverse. Basically, within tens of meters, everything you want to see can be seen through 10x zoom. The resolution of 250mm at the long focus end is OK. Although it is not as clear as the short focus 25mm close shot, it is completely acceptable in the daytime. But when you use 10x optical zoom, you must keep your hands steady, even in the daytime, because the jitter effect after 10x optical zoom is too great, even if your shutter is 1/100s.

In terms of weak light, the imaging effect of the iPhone 7 Plus is better than Moto Z, which is far better than the Hasselblad module. Moto Z's weak light resolution is actually not bad, but the exposure of the picture is too low, and the painting is not effective enough, which makes it appear noisy. The problem of the Hasselblad module has always been serious. Its imaging is not like taking pictures by a smart phone at all, but an old card machine. The algorithm is relatively backward, and is limited by the F3.5 ultra small aperture limit at its short focus end (25mm). Its imaging effect in weak light is poor. First, too small aperture is a congenital defect, and then the algorithm processing is not effective.

However, the effect of 10X light change is still good. Although the aperture of the long focus end (250mm) has been reduced to F6.5, the problem of using 10X light change in weak light is that your hand can't shake. In terms of experience, even the hand of God is not likely to be true at a shutter. It takes several shots to ensure that one is available.

In the case of the same zoom, the iPhone 7 Plus can achieve the effect of 2x light change through the long focus (56mm). However, due to the quantitative adjustment of the light change of the Hasselblad module, it cannot be set to 2x light change. We can only choose the nearest 1.9 times light change for comparison.

Because the 2x zoom of the iPhone 7 Plus will automatically choose whether to use a 28mm digital zoom or a 56mm telephoto based on the sufficient light in the environment, and the telephoto will not be activated in the weak light at night, we use the daytime scene for comparison. From the results of the sample, it is obvious that the 1.9 times light variable energy of Hasu is stronger than the iPhone 7 Plus in analytical power. However, due to the algorithm and white balance problems, the iPhone 7 Plus also has its own advantages.

But in fact, the iPhone 7 Plus has lost since the moment it was compared with the Hasselblad module, because the telephoto of the iPhone 7 Plus is basically unavailable at night. Because of insufficient light, the iPhone will automatically select a 28mm zoom for 2x digital zoom, while the Hasselblad module is not limited at all.

Moto Z

This camera of Moto Z has no secrets. It is just an IMX214 with optical anti shake and large aperture. Its strength is limited and not too bad. It is reasonable that the weak light performance is not as good as that of the iPhone 7 Plus, but it is also acceptable. The problem with Moto Z is that the IMX214 does not have the phase focusing function. In some scenes, it will pull the bellows back and forth, and the overall focusing speed is slow.

Charging&endurance&heating

In terms of fast charging, although Moto Z uses Moto turbine fast charging, and the input power of the original charger is only 5V/3A, considering its own battery is only 2600mAh, the charging time will not be too long. In the actual test, the power of Moto Z starts from 0%, and can be charged to 24% in 12 minutes, 93% in 60 minutes, and 98% in 69 minutes.

In terms of endurance, Moto Z has 71% of the remaining power after the three hour endurance test. Compared with the current flagship, its endurance is at a medium level. However, considering its battery capacity is only 2600mAh, this performance is acceptable.


Although the thickness of Moto Z is only 5.2mm, the heat dissipation performance is still normal. After running NBA 2K15 for one hour, the highest temperature is 42.6 ℃ at the position of the virtual key directly below the body. The heat is concentrated at the bottom of the phone. The temperature of other parts of the phone is 30~35 ℃.
