Why does Macbook Pro give up the card slot but have a headphone interface?

Recently, foreign media The Independent Yes Phil Schiller, senior vice president of global marketing of Apple, conducted an exclusive interview. In the interview, we mentioned several issues of concern to see if we can convince everyone:

Why the SD card slot is canceled

There are many reasons. First, it is a bit cumbersome. Half of the card slot will be exposed when inserted. Secondly, there are many good USB card readers, which can be compatible with more kinds of memory cards. In addition, there are more and more cameras supporting wireless transmission, so we think it is time to take another step forward. Consumers can choose a card reader or wireless transmission according to their wishes (Author: My Canon 5D3 will be upgraded for the sake of a notebook, or will I spend hundreds more yuan to buy a wifi card?)

There is no 3.5mm headphone interface on the iPhone. Why does the new Macbook Pro retain it? Isn't this a contradiction?

Of course not, laptops are professional equipment. If it is only used as the headphone interface, the 3.5mm interface does not exist. Our wireless headphone solution is already very good (author: however, it is very expensive and easy to lose, and the sound quality is still average...)

Why can't the Mac wake up directly with "hey, Siri" like the iPhone?

If we can only use the power button to light up the Mac and then use the voice commands of hey and siri, this function will be meaningless. But it allows the machine to enter a standby mode close to that of the iPhone, and listen to voice commands all the time (equal to that the voice chip or most of the circuits must work as usual when the notebook is in standby), This function requires system level circuit changes or low-power technology, but Macbook does not have such a circuit design for the time being.

The interview also mentioned the relationship between Touch Bar, Mac OS and iOS. Apple said that the operation area and screen of the notebook have always been "L" shaped, so the improvement is to place them on the same plane as the keyboard and touch pad. While macOS and iOS have remained independent since then, Apple believes that they are completely different products, and they have different directions.
