It is reported that IMX398 is a 1/2.8 inch sensor, equipped with 16 million pixels, with a unit pixel area of about 1.12 μ m, and adopts a new focusing technology - dual core focusing technology jointly developed by OPPO and Sony. This technology uses a new focusing structure, and the focus data acquisition is improved to 100% compared with IMX298. The theoretical focusing speed is faster and more accurate.

It is reported that the IMX398 sensor is jointly developed by OPPO and Sony, OPPO participated in the front end design of IMX398, and its sensor focus pixels adopted a layout mode different from IMX260. Through a special arrangement and combination mode, theoretically, the light input of a single focus pixel has been increased by 100%, which can greatly improve the focus speed. Therefore, OPPO has the courage to claim in the R9s publicity that it has a single reflex focus speed.

According to the technical documents published by foreign media, the maximum size of the image output by the sensor is 4480 × 3328, and the maximum volume of the output image is 14.9M.
