Compared with the previous two generations of products, the Genius phone watch Y03 continues the one button call function of the first generation product and the IPx7 intelligent waterproof function of the second generation product, and supports 5V/1.2A charging technology. Compared with ordinary smart watches, the current is higher. At the same time, the battery capacity is larger, and the screen resolution increases with the screen size. It is a pity that this generation of smart watches still do not support telecom cards, perhaps because MediaTek's processors for smart wearables do not integrate the all network communication baseband like those of Helio X25/X20 smartphones.

Mobile phone and watch connection
As shown in the figure below, to connect a mobile phone to a watch, we first need to install the Genius App on the mobile phone. However, this software is not available in all the built-in app stores of the mobile phone system. Take Meizu mobile phone in my hand for example, Flyme App Store does not have this software. But we can get it through other channels, such as Baidu App Store. After the installation is successful, we can choose to register and log in the account. The registration process is fast.
After the mobile phone is registered, we open the watch, slide left to the right of the eight main screens of the watch, and select "binding number" from more options, which means to associate the mobile phone. Then the watch screen shows the exclusive QR code. After scanning the QR code on the watch with the code scanning tool on the app installed on the phone, the phone and the watch will be automatically bound. After binding, we need to enter the identity of the guardian, and the system will also prompt the guardian with some details when using the SIM card on the smart watch after successful binding.
After binding, the mobile phone app will prompt that the watch firmware needs to be upgraded at the same time, and then the system will automatically update. I haven't found the new dial themes of Lan Zhihuixin and Liu Guangyi after upgrading, whether they are mobile apps or smart watches. Later, according to the manufacturer's feedback, you can slide left and right to change the theme by long pressing the screen on the watch's main interface.
Then let's take a look at the main interface layout of this app. Similar to similar software, it also has check-in and activity square modules. There are many ways to earn points. In addition to signing in, you can also do it through micro chat, adding friends and counting steps.

Then let's take a look at the design of the activity square. Basically, there are some lottery giving activities, just the chance of winning the lottery. Take 9 grids as an example. There are 8 grids in total. Thank you for your participation accounts for 1/4 of the probability. Another draw accounts for 1/4 of the probability. It is worth noting that the point system and experience level are different. As shown in the figure below, the level badge will not change in response to the change of points, and the level is linked to the experience value. The experience value is mainly related to the duration of micro chat between mobile phone and smart watch.
Back to the main interface of the App, we can see the power of the smart watch in real time from the icon in the upper left corner. In this interface, we can implement some common functions, such as class disable, school guard, and wear detection. We first complained about the function of wearing detection. It seems that the real-time wearing status of the smart watch cannot be displayed after the option is turned on during the test. According to the feedback from the manufacturer, the dual detection of distance and capacitance adopted by Little Genius Phone Watch Y03 is not always in the detection state in real time. The use scenario is only valid when no one answers the phone.
Let's focus on the practical step counting function. Compared with ordinary mobile phone step counting, intelligent wearable devices have always been a strong point in this regard. We conducted tests and found that the step counting interface can be displayed in real time during the journey, and the data changes very quickly. When stepping in place or taking the elevator, the step counting interface stops. The drawback is that the step counting interface will have a certain delay and the data will lag for a short time after the original step/taking the elevator switch to the traveling state.
Similar to WeChat Sports, we can set plans for sports and share these data with friends to pull hatred. After the baby finishes the sports goal, the mobile app will get corresponding points. Is this a way to give back to parents? In the mobile app, we can set the address book, such as adding the baby's name, or adding a picture for the baby.
Next, let's talk about the important functions of smart watches. Compared with real-time calls, I think the micro chat function is more commonly used. After all, the effect of real-time communication is OK in quiet places, but in noisy public places such as buses and subways, we can basically rely on micro chat for communication. Similar to WeChat, the guardian of the mobile phone app can choose voice or text to communicate with the baby, while the baby's smart watch can only choose voice to communicate. The functions of school guard, class disabling, and call location are quite practical. After entering watch management, we can also manage the status and information of the smart watch, such as collecting SMS messages from the smart watch SIM card and setting the duration of the watch's on-screen. In the actual experience process, this function is quite punctual. As long as the time arrives, the watch's screen display will be locked in the time interface, and no operation can be completed. Slide left and right to pop up a picture of prisoners locked in prison, which is really drunk. Of course, the one button call function can still be activated, otherwise it will lose the meaning of asking for help when necessary.
The school guard function also needs to call the GPS positioning function. The specific setting interface is shown in the above figure. We can set the time, school address and residence address respectively.
It is worth noting that the power consumption of the smart watch will also increase during the guard period after the school guard function is enabled. If the network signal is poor, the system will prompt guard failure. It is worth mentioning that during the whole product experience, the performance of all functional modules involved in positioning of the smart watch is not particularly ideal, mainly referring to the signal.

Officially, the Genius phone watch Y03 uses the five repositioning mode to search the location through GPS+base station+WiFi+acceleration sensor+A-GPS different satellite frequency bands. The watch will automatically match the most suitable positioning technology according to the surrounding network conditions, and accurately locate the child within 5 meters. The accuracy is really high, but the premise is that the signal must be good.
For users who are not used to turning on the mobile phone positioning function, don't worry. All the functions related to positioning of the smart watch don't need to turn on the positioning authority of the mobile phone at the same time. As shown in the figure above, turning off the positioning authority of the smart phone throughout the process can also achieve most communication between the smart watch and the mobile phone.

For the first time, the status of the timeout connection was reminded, and for the second time, the smart watch was finally located accurately. At that time, the author was at the corresponding location on Shennan Avenue. After a while, the author positioned again. I wanted to see which was more accurate, Baidu map positioning and smart watch positioning. Unfortunately, the smart watch lost its signal again.

To be sure, the positioning accuracy is really high. As shown in the figure above, when the signal returns to normal state, the positioning accuracy of the smart watch and Baidu Maps is almost the same.

Genius phone watch Y03 only supports China Mobile and China Unicom, not telecom cards. Nano SIM card design is adopted. Micro SIM card and standard SIM card need to be cut. Mobile card It is required to activate call display and GPRS data access functions, and the recommended data package is at least 30M per month. The watch uses 2G/3G/4G universal traffic, but 4G exclusive traffic is not supported. In actual measurement, the 4G card of Unicom was put into the smart watch and displayed 2G signal, so the network speed would be a little slow. However, since the Little Genius Smart Watch Y03 will only be used for micro chat without browsing the web and other operations when opening the network, the 2G signal is also OK. As for the function of watch positioning, it is generally carried out through built-in GPS, so it is not highly dependent on the network. If you have activated a short number or a family number, you need to add it to the address book of the app, otherwise it will be rejected and cannot be connected.
Endurance and fast charging
Genius phone watch Y03 supports fast charging and normal charging modes. When the battery temperature is lower than 20 ℃ or higher than 45 ℃, it cannot enter the fast charging mode, or it automatically switches to the normal charging mode. The standard 5V/1.2A fast charger is configured. There is no quick charging head in the above unpacking photo. In fact, the quick charging head here is the original data cable, and the USB port connected to the PC will automatically enter the quick charging mode. Genius phone watch Y03 uses a magnetic charging line, which can reduce the damage of the interface caused by long-term plugging. It was measured that the battery had been fully charged in about one hour, but it was still very fast.
Three prevention design
The watch can be splash proof (such as when washing hands, in rainy days, etc.); Refer to GB4208 standard for test of waterproof immersion ability under controlled conditions, and the waterproof grade of ex factory products is IPX7. Of course, the product manual lists detailed use and supplementary instructions to remind users under which circumstances they should not use the smart watch. For example, do not wear a watch in bathing, sauna, swimming, sweat steaming (or in the steam room) and hot spring. Avoid exposing the watch to water flowing environment (such as tap water, fountain or toy water gun). Avoid immersing the product in the water for a long time. It is obvious that only IP68 three proof mobile phones from Sony and other manufacturers can be immersed in the water for a long time, such as diving into the swimming pool to take photos you'll see.
It is worth noting that the waterproof performance of the watch is not permanent. The waterproof performance of the watch may be affected by aging of the waterproof ring or accidental impact on the handle/case. It is recommended that the watch should be checked in the brand authorized maintenance center in 1-2 years.

As a smart watch targeting children's user groups, Genius Phone Watch Y03 is commendable in terms of positioning accuracy, micro chat user experience, IPx7, push to talk, and fast charging compared with smart watches of the same level. At the same time, the accuracy of the step counting function is relatively high. For the experience of monitoring children's function modules, there are quite a lot of functions, such as work and rest plan, class ban, school guard, and collecting SMS messages.
However, when it comes to positioning functions, such as the performance of call position, watch loss reporting, wear detection and other modules, the accuracy is very high, but the premise is that there must be signals, smooth connection and stable network. Taking the author as an example, the success rate of most of the experiments related to positioning in this paper is not very satisfactory. The overall UI design of the smart watch is simple, but as a children's watch, the logic is simple. Basically, the second and third level menus are always on the go. Less children forget how to return to the main menu after using it for a period of time, or can't find the function options they need.
To be fair, the unsatisfactory performance of all the functions related to the location service of the Genius Phone Watch Y03 may be related to the fact that GSM has gradually withdrawn from mainstream network services, and the weak signal and coverage of the base station, which leads to frequent failures when the location service returns data to smart phone apps. If you have the ability to suggest that this series of follow-up products open 4G networks in terms of cellular data compatibility, after all, the 4G networks of the three major operators have begun to popularize, and of course, there is additional support for telecommunications users. As for the design of other aspects, it is commendable. For many parents, the smart watch with simple interface can reduce children's frequent distraction from playing with the watch and forgetting to learn. While the basic functions are perfect, there are not too many additional functions, which is why smart watches are more suitable for children than smart phones.
