At present, more and more tablets or mobile phones are equipped with stylus, which is more convenient to operate. For Android and IOS, we can say that the stylus has begun to play its due value on them. Remember that the stylus was originally used on traditional mobile phones, and these mobile phone screens were realized through resistance screens. The resistance screen has obvious advantages, and its cost is very low. However, the resistance screen has low integration and is not sensitive enough. It only supports single point touch. The user experience is poor, and it often needs calibration. Nevertheless, resistive screens still make up half of the world in the field of touch control.

Then, Apple launched the first mobile phone under the brand, and Android gradually invaded the mobile phone market. The dominance of resistive screen was finally shaken - capacitive screen. There are many advantages of capacitive screen, and I will not list them here. Now the tablet computers basically use capacitive screen.

This time, we were lucky to experience that this stylus made by Yifang Digital did not sell according to common sense, and we finally had the opportunity to enjoy the experience brought by the touch screen without changing the screen and computer.

Product appearance

The outer package of E-square stylus is relatively small and simple in design. The product model and main functions are marked on the back.

Open the package and we can see the real appearance of the stylus. The model I received is XN800, and the package contains a manual and a warranty certificate, a pen, two pen cartridges, two button batteries (not shown in the figure), a receiving host, a slender magnet, a piece of equal size double-sided tape (not shown in the figure), and a USB connection line.

The close-up of the receiving host is very small and light. There is a mini USB interface on the side, which is also the only interface of the host.

When installing the receiving host, first use double-sided adhesive tape to stick the thin magnet on the frame of the display, and then attach the receiving host to it. This is the effect installed on the computer.

Pay attention to adjusting the position when sticking the magnet, or the receiver may not close after being sucked on.

After connecting the data cable, the two indicator lights on the receiver will light up, then the red light will be dark, and the green light will stay on.

Operation experience

First of all, let's make it clear that when Microsoft developed Win8, it designed the touch mode and mouse mode as two independent operation modes (not desktop mode and Modern mode here). Although we can use the mouse to complete all operations, the operation mode of the mouse is completely different from the touch control.
When touching, press and hold in desktop mode to call up the right-click menu, and double-click to open it. In the modern mode, pressing and holding the horizontal drag is to scroll the tiles. Click the tiles to open the application. To call out the menu corresponding to the tiles, we should press and hold the tiles, and then drag down slightly (this step is completed by right clicking when using the mouse).

Drag from the left side of the screen to the right, and we can complete the actions between programs. Drag from right to left to call out the start menu of Win8.

When using the stylus to complete the above operations, it can be said that the stylus itself feels very good. Because of its light weight, it is not very tired to hold it in hand. The wool refill can protect the screen from scratches, while bringing some feedback to the operation. These are the advantages of the stylus. But in the process of use, we also found many unsatisfactory places. First of all, the stylus has an obvious delay, which is half a second slower than the actual operation when dragging and rolling. This is especially obvious when writing. Secondly, when calling out the start menu with the stylus, the operation is difficult to achieve 100% success. The pen does not respond well at the edge of the screen. It needs to tilt 45 degrees to operate normally, and it is sometimes effective and sometimes unresponsive.

There is a button on the first half of the pen body, but the specific purpose is not given on the packaging and instructions of the product. In the trial, we found that this button can perform operations like two-point zoom, but the actual use effect is not ideal, and the usability is insufficient.

In addition, we also tried on a 24 inch LCD, but problems occurred during calibration. The receiving host cannot cover the whole range of the display.

However, E-fang Digital clearly mentioned in the manual that the maximum coverage of the product is 15.6 '', so it is not a defect in product design that it cannot be used on a 24 inch display.

Actual operation

Thanks to Win8's excellent soft keyboard and handwriting recognition, we can conduct input operations in Office 2007. However, during handwriting input, we need to use great force to slide on the screen to write handwriting, which will directly cause the notebook screen to shake constantly, and it is not very smooth to use.

Because I have learned calligraphy, it is not difficult to write well. However, the stylus can still complete most of the text input and processing in Office, and there is no problem with compatibility. After the stylus is connected, Office 2013 will also add an optimization option to the title bar, which can increase the distance between toolbar buttons for easy touch selection. Under WPS, although the software does not add the corresponding touch function, it can still complete all operations with the touch pen, which can be said that the compatibility is good.

When operating on the system drawing software, the stylus can hardly be used normally. Apart from clicking the button, it is completely impossible to draw on the canvas. However, under SAI, the stylus can be used normally, but there is no pressure sense, and the phenomenon of signal loss becomes extremely obvious.

Game operation

The operation under the application program is very easy to use. In addition to the difficulty of calling out the start menu and switching programs, other use experiences are very commendable. Especially under the fruit cutting game, the pleasure of paddling around is definitely not something that the mouse can replace.

Summary and suggestions

On the whole, the starting point of Yifang digital touch pen is quite correct. At present, it is difficult to find a solution that can perfectly replace the touch screen on the market, but E-square Digital provides us with a feasible path, blurring the boundary between touch and touch screen. Although this stylus product is not very mature, its status is more than just a product. From the trial, we can feel the unique intention of this stylus. Although the product itself has many defects, and its smoothness and accuracy have not yet fully met the expected standards, this does not affect its becoming an excellent invention.

1. You can add a magnetic stripe on the outside of the receiving host and on the pen, and then attach the pen to the receiving host like the Surface, which is easy to carry and keep.

2. It is not a technical problem to change from wired to wireless, but the cost will be relatively higher.

3. The multi touch mode still needs to be improved, and it is not very easy to use now.
