On May 26, the long silent ZTE held a new product launch conference in Beijing, releasing the flagship mobile phone ZTE Tianji 7 of its new products in 2016. This Tianji 7 did not use the dual camera design of AXON Tianji, but returned to the common single rear camera. The hardware is also very violent, not only using 2K screen and Snapdragon 820, but also using the violent combination of AK4961 codec+AK4490 DAC in audio.
ZTE AXON Tianji 7 adopts Snapdragon 820 SoC, uses a 5.5 inch 2K AMOLED screen, the camera is 20 million pixels F/1.8, and is equipped with optical anti shake, back fingerprint identification, battery capacity of 3170mAh, back fingerprint identification, support for dual card dual standby+All Netcom QC3.0 fast charging. In terms of audio, ZTE AXON Tianji 7 adopts the dual HiFi design of AK4961 codec+AK4490 DAC and dual stereo external amplifier. Officially, it will use AK4961 codec to decode when recording, while switching to AK4490 DAC when listening to music normally.
ZTE Tianji 7 is equipped with multiple versions, starting with 4GB of memory and 6GB of top configuration, This one is 4GB RAM+128G ROM.
appearance
ZTE Tianji 7 adopts a box type outer package. After opening the package, it is equipped with a silicone phone case, Type-C to Micro USB interface, and a headset in addition to the data cable, fast charging head, and card pin normally equipped. Compared with most domestic flagship mobile phones that are not equipped with earphones or adapters, the specifications of such accessories are relatively rich today.
ZTE Tianji 7 adopts an all metal design. There are two stereo speakers at the top and bottom of the front of the machine, and three physical touch keys at the bottom. The left and right touch keys can be used for function settings. The fingerprint identification module is placed on the back of the body, with the normal volume key and power key on the right and the SIM card slot on the left.
After careful observation, it can be found that the front panel of ZTE Tianji 7 has a certain radian, and the openings of the upper and lower dual speakers are also made of metal.
In terms of accessories, its own USB Type-C data cable is relatively thick. Since it supports the Qualcomm Fast Charge 3.0 standard, its charging head specifications are 5V/3A, 9V/2A, 12V/1.5A.
screen
ZTE Tianji 7's color gamut is 139.8% sRGB in natural mode
ZTE Tianji 7's 104 color average color accuracy in natural mode: 6.0
ZTE Tianji 7 uses a 5.5 inch 2K resolution AMOLED, which has three color modes: natural, bright and gorgeous.
However, under the three modes, its color gamut performance is basically the same, and the average color accuracy performance is also little different.
Natural mode:
Contrast: infinite Default white dot Color temperature: 7759K Maximum brightness: 415nits sRGB Color gamut: 139.8% 104 Color accuracy: 6.0
Brightness of each part of the screen under manual maximum brightness: 365~415nits
Vivid mode:
Contrast: infinite Default white dot Color temperature: 7543K Maximum brightness: 415nitssRGB Color gamut: 139.4% 104 Color accuracy: 6.1
Brightness of each part of the screen under manual maximum brightness: 365~415nits
Gorgeous mode:
Contrast: infinite Default white dot Color temperature: 7571K Maximum brightness: 415nitssRGB Color gamut: 138.9% 104 Color accuracy: 6.3
Brightness of each part of the screen under manual maximum brightness: 365~415nits
ZTE Tianji 7 is one of the few flagship smart phones that uses 2K AMOLED in China. In general, its quality cannot be considered as the top AMOLED screen, but in addition to the color accuracy performance, other aspects are also acceptable.
system
ZTE Tianji 7 is equipped with MiFavor UI 4.0 (Android 6.0). It can be seen from its menus, settings and drop-down bars that ZTE itself has not made too many improvements to Android 6.0, which has a strong flavor of native systems. ZTE Tianji 7 has no secondary menu, and there are not many applications built in the whole machine. The whole system is relatively simple.
As a mobile phone with an AMOLED screen, ZTE Tianji 7 is equipped with an extreme power saving mode. In this mode, the screen of the mobile phone will switch to black and white screen status, and the Wi Fi/4G network can still be manually turned on. Thanks to the feature that the black pixels of the AMOLED screen are nearly non luminous, the battery life of the mobile phone can be improved several times in this mode, and the power saving effect is quite amazing.
This black-and-white screen power-saving mode was originally developed from Samsung Galaxy Note 4, but in the Galaxy S6 generation, this mode was cancelled and changed to a black-and-white screen power-saving mode that can only be used for simple operations (phone calls, SMS messages). It can not even access the Internet or WeChat. ZTE Tianji 7 can operate your mobile phone normally under the black and white screen. Of course, you must sacrifice your pursuit of the color world at this time
performance
ZTE Tianji 7 uses the 2.15GHz version of Qualcomm Snapdragon 820, which is different from some machines on the market that use the low-frequency version of Snapdragon 820. In terms of performance, it is basically the same as most flagship smart phones that use Snapdragon 820 on the market. GeekBench has 2350 single core runs and 5475 multi-core runs. In terms of flash memory reading and writing, its performance is slightly different from the mainstream flagship smart phones on the market at present, which belongs to the upper middle level.

In fact, since ZTE Tianji 7 and Moto X are both 20 million pixel cameras (Moto X is 21 million), and the CMOS size is the same, their imaging gap is very small when the daytime light is sufficient. Due to the difference between algorithms and ISPs, their detailed performance in individual scenes will be slightly different, and their performance is generally equal.

At night, due to the optical anti shake addition of ZTE Tianji 7, the film forming rate of ZTE Tianji 7 in low light is much higher than that of Moto X-pole (without optical anti shake). In terms of focusing, there is basically no problem for both of them to focus under weak light, and there will be no out of focus/out of focus. In terms of white balance, the white balance of Moto X pole is not very stable, and the timing is not accurate. Especially in the indoor warm light scene, ZTE Tianji 7 performs slightly better. In fact, the biggest difference between the two mobile phones in low light photography is noise control and smudging algorithm. In many scenes, the noise control of Moto X pole is poor, and even a lot of color noise appears. It can also be seen that the smearing in the sample of Moto X pole is not powerful enough. ZTE Tianji 7 is slightly better than Moto X pole in this respect, but its anti glare ability is too poor. Although there is no large amount of color noise at night, the noise and smearing are generally controlled.
In conclusion, ZTE Tianji 7's night imaging is not less than Moto X's, but it still cannot reach the level of the first echelon of weak light imaging of smart phones (Samsung, LG).
Endurance&fast charging
ZTE Tianji 7 endurance test
ZTE Tianji 7 charging test
Since ZTE Tianji 7 is equipped with a 5.5 inch 2K AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 820 SoC, and the battery capacity is only 3170mAh, according to experience, its endurance performance should not be very good. However, according to the author's 3-hour high-intensity endurance test results, ZTE Tianji 7's endurance is actually ahead of most flagship smartphones on the market, even better than the Galaxy S7 edge (5.5 inch 2K AMOLED screen, Snapdragon 820, 3500mAh). Its endurance level is comparable to that of the Honor NOTE 8 with 4500mAh, which is really rare.
In terms of charging, ZTE Tianji 7 supports Qualcomm's QC3.0 fast charging standard. In our actual charging, it takes 47 minutes to charge from 0% to 75%, and 67 minutes to charge to 93%. Although it is QC3.0, this fast charging speed is up to standard in today's smart phone market, which is far behind some 24W and "charging for five minutes and talking for two hours" mobile phones on the market.
audio frequency
The author can boldly say that the difference between ZTE Tianji 7 and most of the flagship ships on the market is that it is equipped with 2K screen, Snapdragon 820, 20 million pixels+optical anti shake and other flagship configurations, while also equipped with the top Hi Fi chip (AK4961 codec+AK4490 DAC). Why do I use "top" here to describe the two Hi Fi chips AK4961 codec+AK4490 DAC? Because they are the same chip of Sony professional recorder PCM-D100 (priced at 3500 yuan) and Aili and AK380 (priced at 20000 yuan), respectively, the AK4961 codec of ZTE Tianji 7 is used for recording, and the AK4490 DAC is used for HiFi playback, which can be regarded as their own strengths. However, it is worth noting that there are two AK4490 DACs on Aili and AK380, and ZTE AXON Tianji 7 is one. Even so, as a mobile phone, Tianji 7 is equipped with the same DAC chip of the top player, which makes us very curious about its sound quality.
The following is the listening experience with Shure SE535
Low frequency: ZTE Tianji 7's low frequency tuning is not strong. Although the volume is large, the diving is limited. It can be seen that ZTE does not deliberately highlight the low frequency of Tianji 7. But even for the SE535 earphone, which is hard to launch, the performance of Tianji 7 is second only to that of XPlay 5 flagship.
intermediate frequency: The male voice of Tianji 7 is more prominent than the female voice. A slight dental sound can be heard under some tracks, and the male voice has enough extension. In some tracks, the "sense of vicissitudes" is even aggravated. It is not that the female voice of Tianji 7 performs poorly, but that the male voice is more excellent.
High frequency: The high frequency performance is general, not outstanding enough, and has no sense of delicacy.
In general, due to the strength of AK4490 DAC, the audio quality of ZTE Tianji 7 is certainly better than that of mobile phones without independent DAC (iPhone 6s, Galaxy Series, Xiaomi 5, Huawei P9, etc.) are much stronger, especially in the aspect of analysis, but ZTE does not seem to be an "old driver" in the aspect of audio tuning. Its tri frequency performance is relatively balanced, that is, it is relatively plain. Although the analysis is strong, there is no particularly prominent feature. In my personal taste, I prefer the style of the flagship XPlay 5 of the old audio driver Vivo.
summary
The overall performance of ZTE Tianji 7 is relatively balanced. In recent years, everyone has paid great attention to its photography, audio, and endurance, and its configuration is not outdated. It is one of ZTE's few flagship phones in recent years. However, it still retains the characteristics of ZTE as a traditional mobile phone enterprise, its puzzling appearance design, and its commercialized system theme for business. Even when you see its appearance and light the screen, you give up the desire to buy, which is the first time for the author to contact it.
