There is a general opinion among the BBQ group that Bluetooth speakers (or headsets) are inferior to active devices in sound quality. JBL Xtreme makes me have a different opinion on this view. The four unit design of Xtreme is no different from the active speakers in sound level. It combines the portability of Bluetooth speakers with the excellent sound quality of active speakers.

Xtreme is somewhat similar to Charge in appearance design, and the speaker structure is still wrapped with waterproof fabric. Charge looks like a water cup, while Xtreme looks like a waist drum, which may be the origin of war drums. Xtreme adopts a four generator unit design, which is larger than Charge.

Keep the consistent design. The diaphragm of the generator unit is located at the left and right ends. The outer layer of the diaphragm has a protective layer with CD lines and JBL LOGO.

The speaker control button is still on the top, and the control button is made of silica gel with strong water repellency. Buttons are commonly used function control buttons, volume adjustment buttons, Bluetooth connection buttons, etc.

There is a zipper at the bottom of the speaker, and some interfaces are hidden inside the zipper: 2 * UBS, charging AUX， The zipper also has water repellency, and the speaker can keep its waterproof in all directions. It is more suitable for outdoor climbing, or bathroom use.

There is a metal hook at both ends of the speaker. When going out for an outing, you can add a strap. It is easier to carry with a strap, and it can be placed in more ways. You can hang the strap on a tree.

Sound:

The voice performance of Xtreme gives me a new understanding of Bluetooth speakers. Xtreme is relatively balanced on three frequencies, with a good sense of three-dimensional and atmosphere.

Bass: Thanks to two 63MM low-frequency units, it has a sense of volume but not too much weight. It is obviously much stronger in elasticity and strength. The bass elasticity of Xtreme is my favorite place. Finally, it is no longer the hard feeling of "puffing puffing", but a soft and elastic cotton feeling.

In terms of mid-range, the voice is full, neither thick nor thin, not obviously modified, not biased towards the glamorous style of girls, nor too biased towards the rich, natural and listening style of men.

In terms of high frequency, the analysis is good. The details of the instrument are in place. The level is clear, and the sound is not bright or dark. The extension is controlled, and the sound is not harsh.

On the whole, the voice is more stable, natural and durable, without highlighting personality. From the perspective of music listening style, pop and rock music will be more powerful, and light music can be listened to, but it lacks some ethereal feeling, and the sound background is slightly thicker.

"Hedong" has always been my favorite album, with rich musical instruments and strong sense of rhythm. Listening to these songs with Xtreme is still very meaningful, very bringing.

Bandrui is also my favorite light music. It's time to listen to Bandrui when I have insomnia occasionally. When I listen to Bandrui with Xtreme, I feel that the sound is a bit thick, and the voice lacks a little inspiration. I can listen to it, but it is not toxic enough.

Summary:

The sound of JBL Xtreme is outstanding, creating a good sense of space. The sound is closer to the level of active speakers, and there is nothing to be picky about in terms of sound. Bluetooth has a wide coverage, 20 meters in an open place, 10 hours of endurance, and is a good companion for outdoor camping.
