With the growth of smartphone sales brought by celebrity effect and advertising endorsement, Xiaomi finally cannot stand still. Hongmi Pro is Xiaomi's first smartphone with celebrity endorsement, and it also uses three celebrities to endorse it. Because of the additional cost of star endorsement, most smart phones will also reduce the material cost to increase profits, thereby reducing the cost performance of mobile phones. Although the Hongmi Pro is not so obvious, from the perspective of configuration, it does not have the "cost performance" of Xiaomi in the past.
Specifications
Meilan E vs Hongmi Pro Standard
Table of different configuration parameters of Hongmi Pro
Hongmi Pro is divided into three versions. The standard version uses MTK Helio X20 SoC. Both the high configuration and the exclusive version are Helio X25, of which only the exclusive version has 4GB memory. At present, only the standard version and high configuration version of Hongmi Pro are available on Xiaomi's official website, with prices of 1499 yuan and 1699 yuan respectively.
appearance
The back of the Hongmi Pro adopts the metal wire drawing process, which is very similar to the Huawei P9 in touch. The metal feeling of the whole machine is not strong, which is quite different from that of all metal mobile phones with anodic oxidation process. In my personal opinion, Hongmi series mobile phones have never had an advantage in appearance. In terms of the thousand yuan mobile phone, I would prefer the design of Meilan.
The Hongmi Pro does not support fast charging. Its charger is only 5V/2A. The data cable is made of black skin like material and is a USB Type-C interface.
screen
The outer glass of Hongmi Pro's screen is 2.5D design, but its radian is smaller than that of most mobile phones with 2.5D glass cover. If you don't look carefully, you think it is an ordinary 2D design.
Test results:
Default color temperature: 7125K Maximum brightness: 430nits sRGB Color gamut: 153.4% 104 Color accuracy: 4.4
Brightness of all parts of the screen under manual maximum brightness: 405~470nits
system
Hongmi Pro uses MIUI 8 system (Android 6.0), 4GB of memory remains 2.4GB available after power on. MIUI 8 has two major features. It supports dual application and mobile phone separation function. We can find the option of separate mobile phone and dual application in the settings. There is a rich support list for multi opening applications. Most applications support multi opening. After double opening applications, a new app icon will be seen on the desktop, with a sign in the lower left corner indicating that they are double opening. When the phone split function is enabled, a split icon will also be generated on the desktop, and the phone split can be switched at any time with one key.
performance
In terms of performance, because our model is the exclusive version of Hongmi Pro, it uses MTK Helio X25 SoC, which is better than the previous version of Hongmi Note 3, which is full of Netcom. However, due to the limitation of SoC, it can only use the relatively backward LPDDR3 memory. In the actual measurement, we used the most popular King Glory to test, and set the special effect of King Glory to the highest. However, because the Android version of King Glory locks frame 30, the frame number of Hongmi Pro can only reach 30. In the multi player team battle, the minimum frame of the Hongmi Pro is below 20, and the frame number in most cases in the game is between 23 and 27.
photograph
The Hongmi Pro adopts dual rear cameras, one with 13 million pixels (IMX258) and one with 5 million pixels. However, its scheme is different from that of Huawei P9 and 360 Qiku mobile phones, which use black and white cameras and color cameras. In this comparative evaluation, we selected Xiaomi 4c, Xiaomi Max and Hongmi Pro, and the main test content is still the comprehensive ability of day and night imaging of Hongmi Pro.
Double lens
Imaging of samples taken with dual lenses under different electronic apertures
It can take pictures before focusing, and adjust the background virtualization range through the electronic aperture
This dual lens scheme of Hongmi Pro has appeared in the market for a long time. The dual lens can calculate the depth of field within a certain range. By adjusting the depth of field to simulate the large aperture background virtualization of the camera, you can also take photos first, then focus and adjust the aperture. Of course, the dual lens effect on the Red Rice Pro is the same as that of most dual lens mobile phones. The effect is poor, and the blurring cannot ensure the integrity of the edge of the object. At first, it is the kind of blurring on the PS. There is a feeling of low~low after the big aperture is blurred, let alone the SLR. This kind of random effect is not as good as using the ordinary mode honestly.
Outdoor daytime

In the first set of scenes, the white balance performance of the three is different. Xiaomi Max is red, Xiaomi 4c is cold, and Hongmi Pro is relatively close to reality, but there are also deviations. In terms of analytical power, Xiaomi 4c has obvious advantages. In terms of font analysis of "Rongyue Restaurant" in the distance, Xiaomi Max and Hongmi Pro not only lack sharpness, but also lack of pixels.

In this group of scenes, the white balance of Xiaomi 4c has a problem again. The overall color temperature is cold, which is quite different from the color of the real scene.

Due to the sufficient light in the outdoor scene, the main competition in the daytime scene is resolution, followed by white balance. Although Xiaomi 4c has only 13 million pixels, due to its large focal length and small viewfinder range, it has obvious analytical advantages over Hongmi Pro even in the same scene. This analytical advantage has even exceeded Xiaomi Max with 16 million pixels. However, in terms of white balance, the white balance of Xiaomi 4c has shifted even in daytime. The outdoor daytime exposure control of the three is poor. In the case of intense sunlight, there will be obvious picture overexposure. The performance of Hongmi Pro is relatively ideal.

In this group of proofs, the anti glare ability of the three to distant point light sources is relatively poor. All three have serious glare and light spots, the most serious ones are Hongmi Pro and Xiaomi Max, and the glare has affected the imaging of the whole proofs. Although Xiaomi 4c also showed glare and light spots, the degree is not as serious as the other two.

In the outdoor night scene, Xiaomi 4c is still the best, followed by Hongmi Pro. Xiaomi 4c is far better than Hongmi Pro and Xiaomi Max in anti glare ability. The performance of the Red Rice Pro is not very stable. The Red Rice Pro takes multiple shots in the same scene, and different sample images will appear. Sometimes it will increase the noise and enhance the analytical power, and sometimes it will reduce the noise and reduce the analytical power by smearing.

The red circle is the range where the left edge of Hongmi Pro is out of focus
In the process of taking photos, we accidentally found that the image quality of the left edge of the red rice Pro on hand would be out of focus, and the analytical power would decline seriously. Moreover, the reproduction rate of the red rice Pro on hand was 100%, which means that every sample would show such a problem. Since we have only one Hongmi Pro on hand, we are not sure whether this problem occurs in a large area. We need to contact Xiaomi Mobile Phone Company to determine.
Photo summary
Both the Hongmi Pro and the Xiaomi 4c (our 4c is the IMX258) use the IMX258, but there are obvious differences in their imaging. The Xiaomi 4c with a price of 1099 yuan has better performance, while the Hongmi Pro with a price of 1499 yuan still has the same imaging level as the Hongmi series. Although the price has increased, the quality has basically remained unchanged.
Heat and endurance
In terms of endurance, in our regular 3-hour endurance test, the Hongmi Pro performed mediocrely, consuming 26% of the power, while its predecessor, the All Netcom version of the Hongmi Note 3, consumed 22% of the power. From a numerical point of view, the difference between the two is only 4% (the battery capacity of the two is the same), but you should know that the difference of 4% already accounts for 15% of the total power consumption of Hongmi Pro. That is to say, if we conduct three 3-hour endurance tests, the power of Hongmi Note 3 full network communication version is at least 12% more than that of Hongmi Pro, and in fact it must be greater than this value, I think we all know that the 100% grid is very powerful.
In terms of heating, the highest temperature of the Hongmi Pro after running NBA 2K15 for one hour was 44.5 ℃ at the front of the fuselage. This is higher than Meizu Pro 6's 41.2 ℃ temperature, and its heating performance is at the lower middle level.
summary
We don't see any bright spots on the Red Rice Pro except star endorsement, weak dual camera, and SoC with ordinary performance. Even if there are tens of millions of slots in the previous red rice series, their cost performance is consistent, with the exception of the red rice Pro. Red rice Pro is Xiaomi's test of star effect, but it is puzzling why Xiaomi has to use star endorsement on a red rice series aimed at middle and low-end users. The cost of star endorsement goes against the characteristics of red rice series (low price, cost performance). Is it possible to change the "low-end" label of the red rice series after it is crowned as a star? This question needs to be answered by the market.
