The first curved screen mobile phone was the Samsung Galaxy Round released in October 2013, followed by LG's GFlex, and then the Galaxy Note Edge released with Note4 in September 2014. On August 10, it was reported that some patent documents disclosed by Apple showed that Apple applied for a patent related to the curved screen in May 2014, but the role of this solution is different from that of Samsung's existing solution - multi-function button display area.
The edge of the curved screen can display different switches and buttons, such as volume increase and decrease, shutter, and even remote control, according to different applications, with vibration tactile feedback. In fact, Samsung Note Edge has realized many of the features in Apple's patents. Unfortunately, when it comes to the Galaxy S6 edge and S7 edge, Samsung has significantly reduced the area of the curved screen and streamlined similar functions.
But it is certain that this is also the case for the iPhone 7s or iPhone 8 at the earliest. After all, the most mature curved screen component is Samsung's AMOLED, and the relevant suppliers have not received a large number of orders for the time being.
