Before the official debut of the real flagship Z11 this year, Nubia released two different models of Z11 mini and Z11 Max, facing different consumer groups. As a continuation of the Max series, can the screen of Z11 Max be increased to 6 inches this time to bring a better experience?
Appearance and workmanship
In terms of appearance, we have done a detailed picture appreciation before—— Luo Daiyan, Nubia Z11 Max 。 In terms of accessories, it has not shrunk to the general 5V/2A conventional charger like some manufacturers. Although the machine itself has a large screen, Nubia controls the width well. Thanks to the smooth transition between 2.5D glass and frame, the overall grip is good and the workmanship is relatively exquisite.
Screen quality
Compared with the previous generation, the Z11 Max has grown to 6 inches. It uses the Super AMOLED screen provided by Samsung with a resolution of 1920x1080. The overall appearance is good. Of course, this resolution is matched with the large screen. If you look closely, the pixels must be obvious.
In the actual test, the quality of this screen is somewhat unexpected. The default color temperature is 7800K. Due to the characteristics of AMOLED, the color gamut easily exceeds 100%, reaching 139.3% sRGB. However, the average DeltaE is 11.1, the highest DeltaE is 19.9, and the maximum brightness is only 240 nits. I wonder if the machine we have is just an example.
System and performance
The main hardware configuration of Z11 Max is Snapdragon 652+4G RAM+64G ROM. The system is based on Android 5.1.1's nubia UI 3.9.9.
In the CPU test, we can see that the Z11 Max is not as bold as Xiaomi Max, which is also equipped with Snapdragon 652. Nubia is relatively restrained, and its performance is somewhat reserved. However, compared with the famous Snapdragon 808 of the previous generation, the performance of the machines equipped with 652 is basically better than that of the 808, and the performance of the new generation of high-end processors is satisfactory. During the test, an interesting phenomenon occurred when Z11 Max ran GeekBench: the scores of multiple tests were lower than each other, and the single core score was even less than 1000 at the bottom. I don't know whether it was related to the system.
In the GPU test, Snapdragon 808 compared with 652, ranking first in all projects, but the gap is not big. In practice, Z11 Max operates smoothly and the system responds quickly, but Nubia is very conservative in regulating Snapdragon 652. For example, when running a large game such as NBA 2K15, there is basically one big core with four small cores. The time for two big cores to be fully open is very short, which is diametrically opposed to the regulation of Xiaomi Max to be fully open with eight cores.
In terms of the system, the Nubia UI has reached 3.9.9, which will soon break through the 4.0 level, and its various functions are relatively complete. The default settings on the left side of the main screen are various shortcuts for starting the camera, so that users can record good things at any time; The unique edge gesture is a good idea, but it feels more gimmicky than practical in use. In addition, the larger Z11 Max screen affects the convenience.
Photograph section
As a mobile phone capable of shooting stars, Nubia has invested a lot in the camera. The Z11 Max uses the latest Sony IMX298 CMOS, with a 6-piece lens, and the aperture reaches F2.0. The system specially sets many functions for shooting, which makes people look forward to its photography performance.

In the same scene, the white balance of the proof is more accurate when HDR is not turned on compared with that when HDR is turned on, especially the transition of the blue sky behind the building is more natural and closer to the human eye.
After 100% magnification, it can be seen that HDR has not been improved in terms of details. The difference is still the white balance. It only takes a long time for Z11 Max to take photos after HDR is enabled, which is not as good as the photo taking experience when HDR is not enabled.
Compared with the Z5P commonly used by the author, Z11 Max is more accurate in restoring the color of the blue sky, but the buildings and plants are not as good as Z5P. In terms of details, the two are not far apart. In terms of picture purity, Z11 Max is slightly better, but both are different from the Note 5 model of the first level team.
In another group of complex scenes with multiple colors, the white balance of Z11 Max is not very accurate. The color restoration of Z5P is close to the actual situation. The color saturation of Z11 Max is high, and green is the most obvious one.
In these two sets of samples, Z5P can better restore the situation that green plants appear yellow and green under the sun, but the green part of the Z11 Max sample can only be restored near the focus center, but the sample will have an additive effect when viewed on the AMOLED screen of Z11 Max.
Night effect
Nubia claims to be an expert in night photography. After all, it is a mobile phone brand that can shoot stars. However, the night photography effect of Z11 Max is somewhat disappointing. This is a typical picture taken by Z11 Max at night. Nubia will try to increase the brightness at night, but it does not reach the effect of the Samsung S7 night vision device, and there are relatively many noise points; The anti glare ability of the lens is not strong, and it may appear ghosting when encountering neon lights or LEDs.
In contrast to the same scene, the Z5P restores the reality of the light at that time, and the details and white balance are better than the Z11 Max. What's more, Z11 Max can clearly display the sign of "Yongkang Hall Health Preserve". It seems that Z11 Max also wants to go in the direction of "night vision"?
In the other group, under the street light, Z11 Max ignores the yellow street light directly, and the whole picture is pale. In terms of details, the brightness of Z11 Max is forced to increase, and the Z5P is applied at night. Both of them have more noise and are at the same level.
In the stone boat sample at the seaside at night, Z11 Max finally outperformed the over painted Z5P in details, but the white balance is still poor. The whole picture still ignores the yellow light and is white.
Endurance and others
Z11 Max with 4000mAh battery 30 minute large game (NBA 2K15), 30 minute wifi and 4G internet access respectively, 1 hour music playing and 30 minutes local video playing. After a full three hour endurance test, the remaining power is 80%, second only to Hongmi 3 and Xiaomi Max in the table, and equal to the 8890 version of S7 edge.
Even if the AMOLED screen helps to save power, such achievements are completely proud of the average model. Daily heavy use can last for two days, and light use can last for 3-4 days. If it is a standby entertainment machine, it may still last for a week. Due to the conservative regulation of Nubia, this Snapdragon 652 does not have two big cores fully open, let alone four big cores, so even if it is abused by the toaster app, the whole machine is only warm.

The positioning of Nubia Z11 Max this time coincides with that of Xiaomi Max: users who need large screen entertainment and long endurance, but Nubia aims at a smaller range - and also has some pursuit of quality. Compared with the better workmanship and details of Xiaomi Max, the camera with good hardware quality and the standard fast charging charger all show that Nubia is not cost-effective. However, the screen quality and the actual photo taking effect are somewhat unsatisfactory. Whether it is worth buying depends on the psychological requirements of consumers. As for what the title says, it is considerable. I think it is still considerable for the purpose of endurance.
