There is something inside, iPhone SE is disassembled

Although today is April Fool's Day, the foreign iFixit team is still very dedicated to bring us the disassembly of Apple's latest iPhone SE. So where has it changed in appearance, which is the same as the iPhone 5s?

As usual, let's take a look at the iPhone SE configuration first.

  • Apple A9 processor and M9 coprocessor;

  • 16/64 GB storage space;

  • 4-inch 1136 x 640 (326 ppi) Retina screen;

  • 12 million iSight cameras (support 4K video recording, 1.22 μ m per pixel) and 1.2 million ƒ/2.4 aperture FaceTime HD front camera;

  • 802.11a/b/g/n/ac Wi ‑ Fi+Bluetooth 4.2+NFC+LTE (supporting 19 frequency bands);

  • Support Touch ID and Apple Pay;

Turning to the back, the model of the machine iFixit got this time was A1662, and a small change in appearance was that the edge part was changed from 5s polishing to sandblasting.

It still starts with the small screw at the bottom. After removal, use the suction cup to separate the screen from the body. It was previously speculated whether the iPhone SE would add water blocking treatment or change the architecture to support 3D Touch like the new 6s/6s Plus, but the result was neither.

Like 5s, there is a flat cable with Touch ID at the bottom of the screen, which is disconnected from the power supply before the next disassembly.

Comparison of display screens (5s on the left and SE on the right). Try to install 5s screen into SE. The installation, connection and function are completely consistent, and the parts can be universal!

When the battery is removed, the battery size of SE is 3.82V and 1624mAh, which is higher than 1560mAh for 5s. Moreover, the connection part of the battery is different, so the 5s battery cannot be used on SE.

12 million rear camera, with unit pixel of 1.22 μ m.

An X-ray contrast map of iPhone 5, iPhone 5s and iPhone SE is sent during disassembly.

Remove the speaker, vibration module and SIM card slot in turn. After 5s of testing, SE and these components can be fully used. It is worth mentioning that SE's front camera, volume key and rear camera connections have been treated with certain waterproof treatment.

Remove the Lightning connection component, which is slightly different from the 5s. I'm not sure whether it supports USB 3.0.

Change the largest part of the motherboard. The main chips on the motherboard are as follows:

  • Red: Apple A9 APL1022 SoC+Hynix 2GB LPDDR4 memory;

  • Orange: Qualcomm MDM9625M LTE modem (the same model as iPhone 6/6 Plus);

  • Yellow: Qualcomm WTR1625L RF transceiver (the same model as iPhone 6/6 Plus);

  • Green: Qualcomm QFE1100 Envelope Tracking IC (the same model as iPhone 6/6 Plus/6s/6s Plus);

  • Sky blue: Skyworks SKY77611 four frequency power amplifier;

Chips arranged on the other side:

  • Red: Toshiba THGBX5G7D2KLDXG 16GB NAND flash memory;

  • Orange: 339S00134 (guess it is the upgraded wireless module of 339S00043);

  • Yellow: Apple/Dialog 338S00170 power management IC;

  • Green: NXP 66V10 NFC controller and 1610A3 charging IC (the same model as iPhone 6s/6s Plus);

  • Sky blue: Skyworks SKY77826 duplex ultra-low frequency power amplifier and SKY773572G/EDGE power amplifier (like SKY77336 upgraded version);

  • Blue: Apple/Circus Logic 338S00105 and 338S1285 audio IC (the same model as iPhone 6s/6s Plus);

  • Purple: Qualcomm WFR1620 receiver (the same model as iPhone 6s/6s Plus);

Continue chip analysis:

  • Red: Avago ACPM-8020 duplex IF power amplifier (the same model as iPhone 6 Plus);

  • Orange: Quorvo (TriQuint) TQF6410 duplex low-frequency power amplifier (the same model as iPhone 6 Plus);

  • Yellow: TDK EPCOS D5255 diversity receiver;

  • Green: Qualcomm PM8019 PMIC (the same model as iPhone 6/6 Plus);

  • Sky blue: Quorvo (RF Micro Devices) RF5159 antenna switch (the same model as iPhone 6/6 Plus);

  • Blue: InvenSense EMS-A 6-axis gyroscope and accelerometer;

  • Purple: Broadcom BCM5976 touch screen controller (first appeared on iPhone 5);

Finally, the power key is partially removed, and it seems that grounding is added.

OK, it's still a family photo, iF Ixit gives iPhone SE a score of 6 (10 out of 10, the higher the score, the easier it is to repair). The whole disassembly process is very similar to that of the iPhone 5s, so you can refer to it first when you need to repair it.
