Comparison of photos of Meizu's flagship in past dynasties

From the IMX220 on the MX4 Pro to the IMX230 on the PRO 6, Meizu's mobile phone photography seems to have never been emphasized, and the pace of sensor improvement is also quite slow, and Meizu's flagship smart phone has not been equipped with optical anti shake. From the MX4 Pro to the PRO 6, the biggest change is that Meizu has added a laser focusing mode set for mobile phones. Driven by curiosity, the author also questioned the improvement of Meizu's photography in recent years, so today's review lets us see how different the image quality of MX 4 Pro, MX5, PRO 5 and PRO 6 is.

Before the evaluation, let's introduce the camera parameters of these four mobile phones:

MX4 Pro F/2.2 aperture, 20.7 megapixel Sony IMX220 sensor (1.2 μ m), contrast focusing, 5-piece lens

MX5 F/2.2 aperture, 20.7 megapixel Sony IMX220 sensor (1.2 μ m), contrast focusing, 6-piece lens, laser focusing

PRO 5 F/2.2 aperture, 21.16 megapixel Sony IMX230 sensor (1.12 μ m), phase focusing, 6-piece lens, laser focusing

PRO 6 F/2.2 aperture, 21.16 megapixel Sony IMX230 sensor (1.12 μ m), phase focusing, 6-piece lens, laser focusing

Of course, algorithms and ISPs also affect the photographing performance. They all use different SoCs, and their ISPs are also different.

The following pictures can be zoomed in after clicking

daytime

After zooming in:

In the first set of daytime proofs, the white balance of the four machines has no problem. They are true and close to each other. After zooming in, we can see that the texture details on the trees of MX5 and MX4 Pro are much less, while the texture details of PRO 6 and PRO 5 are obviously more abundant. The font resolution in the distance is similar to the performance of the four. In this round of comparison, the performance of PRO 6 and PRO 5 is better than the other two.

After zooming in:

In this group of comparison, the texture details of stone bricks on the top of PRO 5 and MX5 are richer than those of MX4 Pro and PRO 6, and the texture details of PRO 6 are the least. Look at the text details on the bottom brand, PRO 5>MX5>MX4 Pro>PRO 6, In a group of samples, PRO 6 has become the bottom model due to its serious lack of analytical power, while PRO 5 is the most outstanding.

After zooming in:

In this group of samples, the image sharpness of PRO 6 is relatively obvious. After the font in the distance is magnified, it can be found that PRO 6 has the best font sharpness, followed by MX5. However, in terms of building material details at the lower left, PRO 5 has the richest details, PRO 6,MX5,MX4 Pro。 In general, PRO 5 performs better in this group of samples.

Night/indoor weak light

After zooming in:

In a group of weak light indoor samples, the white balance of PRO 6 and MX5 is the most accurate. When magnified, the rich details of the wall texture details in the upper right corner rank PRO 5>MX4 Pro>MX5>PRO 6 in sequence. The wall details of PRO 6 have been directly lost, while in the words on the billboard, PRO 5 is also the most abundant, and the text details of PRO 6 have been obviously lost again. The results of this group of samples are obvious. In addition to white balance, PRO 5's analytical power is significantly better than that of the other three mobile phones.

After zooming in:

In this group of nighttime site samples, because there are obvious point light sources, it can be used to test the glare of the lens. Glare: The glare of the MX4 Pro is obviously better than that of the other three mobile phones. The other three models even appear purple shadow under the point light source. In terms of the analytical power after amplification, PRO 6 has the least noise and higher sharpening. It has obvious advantages. The worst is the MX5. The noise is very serious, which has affected the display of fonts.

After zooming in:

In this group of samples, PRO 6 and PRO 5 are significantly better than MX5 MX4 Pro。

After zooming in:

In this group of night samples, the four machines can't see the color font in the lower left corner clearly. In terms of building details, PRO 6 has the least noise, the most pure, and the MX4 Pro has obvious sharpening, but there are too many noise, and the appearance is too bad. PRO 6 performed best in this group of samples.

After zooming in:

In this group of samples, in terms of white balance, we use incandescent light sources indoors, while the color temperatures of MX5 and PRO 5 are warm, and the white balance of PRO 6 and MX4 Pro is more accurate. In terms of details, PRO 6 and MX5 models are sharpened well. PRO 6 won this group of samples.

After zooming in:

In this group of indoor samples, the details of MX4 Pro, PRO 6 and PRO 5 are very rich. Due to the high exposure of PRO 5, it can see more details of the model, but in general, except for MX5, there is no big difference between the other three.

summary

From the MX4 Pro to the PRO 6, the photography of Meizu's flagship mobile phones has improved on the whole, and the change of this improvement is mainly from the PRO 5 generation. In the evaluation, the comprehensive performance of PRO 5 and PRO 6 is significantly better than that of MX5 MX4 Pro。 The daytime details of PRO 5 are the most abundant among the four mobile phones. In the night low light scene, the image purity and noise of PRO 6 are better in general, but the night performance of PRO 5 is also very good. The night performance of PRO 6 has been significantly different from that of MX4 Pro. The unit pixel area of PRO 6 is smaller than that of MX4 Pro, and neither of them has optical anti shake. Therefore, this imaging gap may be caused by ISP and algorithm. In addition, the focus of the MX4 Pro is more likely to be out of focus than that of the other three machines.

The final result is obvious that Meizu's mobile phone has indeed improved its photography over the years. Although PRO 6's daytime resolution is not as good as PRO 5's, its nighttime improvement is still great. Moreover, the bottleneck of smart phone photography is also stuck in weak light imaging, which is a pity Meizu has never used optical anti shake.
