Recently, iFixit has been updated very quickly, bringing us the latest iPhone SE and 9.7 "iPad Pro disassembly. After that, LG's flagship model G5 has now joined the free disassembly feast.
Before disassembly, check the detailed configuration:
5.3 inch "Quad HD" multi-point touch screen (2K resolution, 554 ppi);
Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 (Adreno 530)+4GB memory;
Dual rear camera (16 million with optical anti shake+8 million wide-angle), 8 million front camera;
32GB storage space, supporting microSD card expansion (up to 2TB);
USB Type-C+802.11 a/b/g/n/ac wi fi+Bluetooth 4.2+NFC+infrared;
Fingerprint identification+accelerometer+gyroscope+distance sensor+barometer;
Android 6.0 Marshmallow;
Compared with G4, G5 is more round and smooth, with more metal parts. However, because of the modular design and LM201 aluminum alloy, its appearance is not as fashionable as last year's G4.
Take a moment to appreciate the design of the replaceable battery G5. Gently press the button to slide out the battery. It is more convenient to replace the battery than G4.
Recently, iFixit has cooperated closely with Creative Electron, and G5 also has X-ray photos. If you only look at X-ray photos, G5 is quite similar to iPhone.
Let's start with the battery. The battery of G5 is 3.85V/2800mAh, which is slightly smaller than the 3000mAh of Samsung Galaxy S7. Guess LG chose between replaceable battery and super capacity.
This is the "chin" called Magic. The front patch is plastic, and the back is a very special aluminum alloy, which is bonded together by a large amount of glue. In addition to the USB interface, there are microphones, some antennas, etc.
Next, the card holder was removed. There were SIM cards and microSD cards on the card holder. LG still insisted on the design of expandable microSD cards, instead of changing to built-in storage like other manufacturers.
After the two fixed screws are removed, the internal components can be separated from the metal body by using a paddle. Although the opening method is similar to that of the iPhone, it does not use so much glue for bonding.
See the demonstration of GIF diagram for specific battery connection and power supply.
The headphone hole, vibration module and keys are all on the metal body at the back. The fingerprint identification module is fixed with a small metal plate. The fingerprint identification module can be seen after removal.
The dual rear camera and front camera module can be removed after disconnecting the flat cable, but the rear auxiliary 8 million wide-angle camera flat cable is pressed under the motherboard, so the motherboard needs to be removed first.
The three complete camera modules, from left to right, are:
16 million main camera, ƒ/1.8 aperture, 1/2.6 ";
135 degree wide-angle 8 megapixel lens, ƒ/2.4 aperture;
8 million cameras in front;
Next, identify the components on the motherboard:
Red: Samsung K3RG2G20BM-MGCJ 4GB LPDDR4 memory and Qualcomm Snapdragon 820 SoC;
Orange: Samsung KLUBG4G1CE-B0B1 32GB MLC UFS2.0 flash memory;
Yellow: NXP 54802 NFC control chip;
Green: Qualcomm SMB1350 Quick Charge 3.0 IC;
Sky blue: Analogix SlimPort ANX7816 Ultra HD Transmitter;
Blue: Analogix SlimPort ANX7418 USB-C switch control;
Purple: Qualcomm WSA8815 audio decoder chip;
Turn to the back and continue to identify:
Red: Broadcom BCM43455 5G Wi Fi Combo Chip;
Orange: Qualcomm WTR3925 LTE transceiver;
Yellow: Avago ACPM-7788 multimode multi frequency power amplifier;
Green: Skyworks 77814-11 LTE power amplifier module;
Sky blue: Skyworks SKY13560 RF switch;
Blue: Qualcomm PM8996 power management IC;
Purple: Qualcomm PMI8996 power management IC;
On the screen cable, we found another name of G5: Alice, which is the development code of G5??
Finally, there is still a family photo. iFixit gives the G5 maintenance score of 8 points (the full score is 10 points, the higher the score, the easier the maintenance is). The modular design is quite high. It is not like other manufacturers that use a lot of glue for bonding. Maintenance is relatively simple. But the whole screen needs to be replaced, and it costs a lot if it is accidentally broken.
