Modularization is a very innovative design in the mobile phone industry in the past two years, first Google's Project Ara modular mobile phone, and then the LG G5 modular chin. In the field of desktop PC, they are modular in nature. A normal desktop host consists of CPU, memory, motherboard, hard disk, power supply and other basic module components.
However, the motherboard, which carries the entire hardware platform of PC, needs to be replaced as a whole due to irregular CPU interface, memory upgrades, and even changes in user expansion requirements (sudden need for HDMI interface or three screen splicing). By making the six basic components of the motherboard into independent modules, the cost and trouble of upgrading the motherboard can be reduced. Because different modules can be disassembled, some modules can be replaced when the host has a problem, and more detailed diagnosis can be made on which parts have a problem. The six modules include:
CPU socket and power supply module (CPU interface between different generations of Intel and AMD platforms)
Mainboard chipset module (different versions of CPU need different chipsets to manage other modules)
Memory mainboard power supply module (DDR3/DDR4, and versions supporting different speeds)
PCI-E module (independent video card, SSD using this interface, etc.)
Motherboard I/O module (VGA/DVI/HDIM interface of integrated graphics card, headset, USB, RJ45 and other interfaces);
Audio and network card module
Moreover, it has passed the IP68 waterproof and dustproof certification, and can be washed directly with water if it is dirty!
Although it was just an April Fool's Day joke, such a beautiful concept and assumption still aroused the infinite thoughts of the host party... I felt embarrassed that the motherboard manufacturer was caught between the upstream CPU and downstream accessory manufacturers. They also know what consumers like, but the cost and pocket money do not support them to turn the sky into reality
