HERE Maps used to be an app exclusive to Nokia models and one of the reasons why fans chose Nokia machines. It can even be called the most competitive map software for the competition between WP platform and Android or iOS. Now it has been acquired by the three German auto manufacturers and announced that it will exit the Win10 store on March 29.
After HERE exits the Win10 store, the Windows Phone 8 version will continue to bug fix, but functional updates are no longer available. Since the map software provided with Windows 10 coincides with the HERE function, this decision was made and the service will be stopped after June 30.
The development team of Windows Maps also explains the new features that will be brought about after the HERE exit:
1) Improve navigation mode; 2) Better navigation interface; 3) Provide peripheral services according to marks; 4) Route planning and so on. Users are also welcome to give feedback to the development team.
"We have an exciting update coming soon to insider builds, including an improved drive mode. We will also be addressing other top feedback I have been collecting from you guys as well as the Windows Feedback app in this update and in updates to come...Better drive UI is part of this initial update...We are exploring options around the arrow on the location marker (compass). Being able to search along the route is a great suggestion that I will bring back to the team. I will take your other feedback to the team as well! "——Dave_MSFT
