We used a nine point screen brightness test. The maximum brightness was, the minimum brightness at the edge was 349 nits, the average brightness was about 380 nits, and the maximum brightness was 434 nits near the center of the screen. In addition to the lower right corner, the overall brightness uniformity is good.
In terms of color gamut, Predator 8 covers 100% sRGB and 87% Adobe RGB, and the color gamut performs well. The default color temperature is around 9500k, and the screen performance is somewhat cold. However, the MediaMaster is built in to make it easy to switch display/performance modes.
In the color accuracy test, whether in the standard display mode or the game mode, the color restoration degree is somewhat high, and the final Delta E is 9.4, which is not ideal. The color restoration deviation is large on several darker colors.
system
The operating system carried by Predator is very close to Google's native Android system, maintaining the AOSP style from the lock screen to the home screen.
It may be due to the engineering aircraft, which has a full set of Google services built in, because the mainland cannot access Google, so the suite may have a certain impact on the endurance.
The application drawer, setting interface and application interfaces of each system basically maintain the style of Google's native system, and the interaction logic of the whole machine is almost the same as that of native Android. Only some system icons have been redrawn.
The MediaMaster application is built in, which can quickly switch the hardware performance, screen color temperature and brightness, so that users can quickly change the use mode in different use environments.
The built-in system is Android 5.1, which is fairly smooth in the entire use experience, but some scenes may feel stuck. For some reasons, Acer's official website cannot be accessed in mainland China, and we have failed to upgrade the system.

Although it is also equipped with Intel processors as Xiaomi Tablet 2, its Intel X7-Z8700 processor is better than Xiaomi Tablet 2's X5-Z8500, and performs slightly better than Xiaomi Tablet 2 in GeekBench and 3DMark, but its advantages are not obvious. In the memory read/write test, the reading speed is low, 131.100MB/s is lower than 159.600MB/s of Xiaomi Flat 2, but the writing is good, reaching 79.430MB/s, better than 63.650MB/s of Xiaomi Flat 2. In terms of GPU, because the Z8700 and Z8500 also use Intel's eighth generation integrated low-power GPU, which is also a basic frequency of 200MHz, and can be dynamically upgraded to 600MHz, the test results of the two are quite similar in GFXBench. Predator 8 is slightly ahead, and the scores of the two are the same as those of the iPad mini 4, but there is a clear gap between them and Xiaomi Tablet 1 using Terga K1.

Since Predator is only equipped with a 5 megapixel camera, we should not overestimate its photographic effect. Its camera's imaging effect is relatively ordinary, and it is not competent for the task of "portable camera".
Although the photography performance is average, Acer's photography application is well designed, and the customization functions are very detailed. Considering the positioning of the Acer Predator 8 game tablet, this camera performance is understandable.
Endurance fever
The machine uses Intel's Atom X7 Z8700 processor, which has a slight compatibility problem with NBA 2K15. Although it can enter the game, it will flash back after starting the game. Therefore, we will replace the endurance test game with Wild Racing 8.
After half an hour of WiFi surfing and half an hour of gaming, we tested the temperature. The maximum temperature of the front side was 42 ℃, and the maximum temperature of the back side was 41.8 ℃. The temperature of the whole machine was somewhat hot, but the hot parts were mainly concentrated on the upper part of the body, not the main part of holding the tablet, so the hot parts were relatively reasonable. The metal material of the back cover has good thermal conductivity, which to some extent alleviates the problem of high heat generation of Intel processors.
After one and a half hours of endurance test, the power of Predator 8 is only 61%, while the iPad mini3/mini4 is 93% and 86% respectively in the same test. This level of endurance is really weak for tablet computers. Only 4550mAh batteries affect its endurance performance. You should know that Xiaomi Tablet 2 and iPad mini4 of the same size have reached 6190mAh and 5124mAh respectively.
It should be noted that because the phone has a full set of Google applications built in, the daily standby power consumption is somewhat high when the mainland cannot connect to Google.

The Predator 8 is only equipped with 4550mAh batteries, and its endurance is a little worrying. Therefore, fast charging has become one of the important indicators that affect its use experience. We start testing when the remaining power is 7%.
The rule of the built-in charger is 5.35V 2.0A, and the specification is slightly low.
Through our tests, Predator 8 supports the QC2.0 fast charging standard. After using the QC2.0 standard fast charging head, its maximum charging speed has reached 9V 1.5A, reaching the current mainstream level. However, considering its unsatisfactory endurance, this charging speed is not enough.

As a game tablet, Acer Predator 8 has a very eye-catching and stylish appearance, and its overall shape is tough and aggressive. Its speakers located at the four corners have excellent stereo effect, which is not available in ordinary tablets.
