Google released the developer preview version of Android N before Google IO this year, so that developers can get ready for the new system, and also let people guess whether they can eat new desserts in advance this time. However, with the arrival of Android N, the roadmap has poured cold water.
It can be seen from the circuit diagram that although Android N was released earlier this time, the official version is similar to the past, and will not be available until the third quarter. If you join the internal test plan with your son's Nexus, the evolution roadmap of its version is roughly as follows:
March: Android N Developer Preview Version 1 (Alpha);
April: Android N Developer Preview Version 2 (Beta);
May: Android N Developer Preview Version 3 (Beta);
June: Android N Developer Preview Version 4 (official API and SDK launched);
July: Android N Developer Preview Version 5 (near the official version);
August/September: official version and release of AOSP;
This is the Nexus with the fastest update speed. If it is another manufacturer, it will be customized and tested by the operator before being pushed. Based on the analysis of previous upgrade experience, the approximate time is as follows:
Samsung: about 5 months after the official version was released (February/March 2017);
LG: The most actively updated manufacturers need about two months to debug, perhaps in mid December at the earliest;
Sony: I'm not sure, but there is an internal test plan. Please refer to Samsung's progress;
Motorcycle: It is estimated to be the fastest, which will take more than one month, and may be pushed in early December;
HTC: Despite the decline, the upgrade speed is still good, estimated to be about 2 months, December;
Domestic manufacturers can't say for sure. Huawei and Xiaomi may keep up with the first batch of progress, and may start updating in December. Meizu, LeTV, etc. do not know the time cost of adapting their own ROMs, so they have to wait for official notification (I just haven't seen such things as ticket skipping) 。
