6s core+5s shell iPhone SE chip level disassembly

Chipworks, a famous chip disassembly organization, has obtained the latest iPhone SE and disassembled and dissolved it. Chipwork indicates that most chips of iPhone SE are consistent with those of iPhone 6s.

Apple A9 processor

From the disassembled PCB, the design of the iPhone SE PCB is very similar to that of the iPhone 5s.

The iPhone SE uses the same Apple A9 processor as the iPhone 6s. Chipworks, the iPhone SE's A9 chip, is printed with the APL1022 model, indicating that it is produced by TSMC, while the batch of 1604 indicates that it takes about 9 weeks from packaging to assembly and launch.

This iPhone SE uses the 2GB LPDDR4 memory of Hynix, and its production batch is 1549, which means that it was produced in December last year, while the processor part of A9 after the cover was opened is 1535, which means that it was produced in August last year. It uses Toshiba 16GB flash memory chip, which is still a 19nm process.

Touch chip

In terms of touch control, iPhone SE uses the chips of Broadcom BCM5976 and Texas Instruments 343S0645, which continues the iPhone 5s solution. Apple often uses the touch control scheme of BCM, including its iPod iPhone、iPad mini、MacBook Pro、MacBook Air。

NFC

The NFC of iPhone SE uses NXP 66V10, which is the same as that of iPhone 6s. NXP 66V10 includes two chips, security chip 008 and NXP PN549.

Six axis inertial sensor

IPhone SE's The six axis inertial sensor is an InvenSense six axis sensor composed of ASIC and MEMS chips. It is the same as the six axis inertial sensor on the iPhone 6s.

RF chip

The iPhone SE uses the Qualcomm MDM9625M modem and the WTR1625L RF RF chip on the iPhone 6.

Audio chip

The iPhone SE uses the same 338S00105 and 338S1285 from Cirrus Logic as the iPhone 6s.

Power management chip

The power management IC of the iPhone SE uses the 338S00170 of Texas Instruments, while the iPhone 6s does not use this one.

Most of the hardware used on the iPhone SE is the same as that of the iPhone 6s, which means that it should not have many exciting places, and its overall performance should be little different from that of the iPhone 6s.
