It is reported that the performance of Amazon's cloud service can no longer meet Apple's expanding cloud service needs, and it is unable to quickly process the amount of data from iOS and Mac devices for images and videos. In addition, according to industry insiders, Apple has launched a project called "Project McQueen" (McQueen Plan) to create a completely independent cloud data center, gradually getting rid of dependence on Amazon AWS, Microsoft Azure and other cloud services.

At present, Apple's main cloud services, including iTunes and iCloud, are mainly stored on Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure servers. According to the data released by Apple in February this year, there are more than 782 million active users of iCloud worldwide. Amazon AWS and Microsoft Azure have been unable to meet the increasing data throughput of Apple's cloud services. Apple has recently increased its investment in data centers under construction around the world. In the plan disclosed at present, Apple has started to establish new data centers in mainland China and Hong Kong. The data centers under construction include Ireland, Denmark, Reno, Nevada and Arizona in the United States. In addition to the existing data centers under construction in Plainville and Oregon, Apple's data center will reach an unprecedented scale. Among them, the data center in Arizona, located in the former GT advanced sapphire factory, will become the "command center" of Apple's global cloud services.
