Today, Sony released a small camera sensor IMX318 for smart phones. IMX318 adopts 22.5 million pixels, with the size of 1/2.6 inch, and the unit pixel size is only 1 μ m. It supports fast hybrid focusing (contrast focusing+phase focusing) and 4K @ 30fps/1080p @ 120fps/720p 240fps video recording. It is officially announced that the camera focusing can be completed in 0.03 seconds, and the sensor has 3-axis electronic anti shake for video recording.

Sony officially explained that the unit pixel size of IMX318 is only 1 μ m. But its night view is no worse than IMX230 (1.12 μ m) At the same time, the official also provided a video demonstration. IMX318 is characterized by focusing and video anti shake. At 60fps, it can even finish auto focusing in 0.017 seconds, and the 3-axis electronic anti shake does not cut the picture significantly.
Sony plans to start mass production of IMX318 in May this year, which will mainly target the smartphone market and some UAV markets.
