However, due to the high price of the Surface series, many consumers are afraid, and many manufacturers are also competing to launch Win10 tablet products similar to the Surface. The HP Spectre x2 we evaluated this time is a surface like tablet. Compared with the Surface Pro, Spectre x2 does not use the core i processor with high power consumption. Instead, it uses Intel Core M, which has a higher energy consumption ratio and better endurance than the Win10 tablet with core i.

What we got is the high configuration Spectre x2. In terms of configuration, it uses an LED screen with a resolution of 1920 * 1280. The CPU is M7-6Y75, 8G DDR3 SDRAM, and Sandisk 256 GB SSD. The body is equipped with two USB Type-C interfaces, which support the expansion of Micro SD card. The battery capacity is 42Wh, the front camera head is 5 million pixels, and the rear camera head is 8 million pixels. In terms of accessories, it is officially equipped with a USB Type-C to USB adapter cable, power adapter, and keyboard. Its official keyboard is included, while the official keyboard of Surface Pro needs to be purchased additionally.

The external package of Spectre x2 is quite powerful. After removing the package, you can see a Spectre x2 body, official keyboard, power adapter, USB Type-C adapter, instruction guide and warranty card.
Spectre x2 adopts an all metal integrated design. The silver color matching and metal materials give a strong feeling. Spectre x2 does not have many body interfaces. 2 * USB Type-C interface (supporting USB 3.0), 3.5mm headphone jack, Micro SD card, keyboard cover port. Since Spectre x2 itself is not equipped with a direct USB interface, the official immediately attached a Type-C to USB adapter cable.
The metal support rod of Spectre x2 is also made of metal and can be adjusted up to 150 °. The rear 8 megapixel camera supports Real Sense 3D. Although the Spectre x2 is all metal, its weight is only 820g.
Like the Surface Pro, the official keyboard of Spectre x2 is magnetic suction type. In addition, the keyboard of Spectre x2 also has speaker openings. In terms of screen, Spectre x2 uses a 12 inch 1920 * 1280 LED screen, which covers 79% sRGB color gamut and 61% Adobe RGB color gamut. The default color temperature is 7200K, the average Delta E is 1.54, and the gamma curve is 1.4 (the closer to 2.2, the better). The maximum brightness of the screen is about 316nits, and the surrounding brightness is 290~310nits. The brightness distribution is very uniform. In general, although the Spectre x2 screen is not as good as the Surface Pro 4 screen, it can not be considered as bad. It belongs to the middle level of the current notebook/Win10 tablet IPS screen.

The Spectre x2 is equipped with the Windows 10 operating system. Compared with Win7, it is more like a tablet in use. Sliding the screen edge from left to right can pop up multiple tasks, as well as the notification bar. All functions of the traditional mouse can be replaced by touch. The Spectre x2 after removing the keyboard is more like a tablet, which also has the weird feeling of running X86 programs on the tablet. However, compared with the Surface Pro 4, its system is more stable, and some minor problems on the Surface Pro 4 will not occur, such as the machine cannot wake up after sleep, and the keyboard cannot be called out.

The Spectre x2 high configuration version uses M7-6Y75 (dual core four thread main frequency: 1.2 GHz and maximum frequency: 3.1 GHz), and the GPU is HD Graphics 515. Its CPU performance is equivalent to i5 3317U, and the GPU performance is between GT425M and GT525M. However, we know that the M7-6Y75 is a processor with a high energy consumption ratio. Its TDP is only 4.5W (i5 6300U TDP of i5 Surface Pro 4: 15W).
In terms of SSD, Spectre x2 performs poorly. Even after the Sandisk official driver optimization is installed, the read-write performance of our high-end version is not as good as that of the Surface Pro 4.

Although the first level HD Graphics 515 is used in Spectre x2, the resolution is lower than that of Surface Pro 4 (HD Graphics 520), so in actual measurement, the game performance of Spectre x2 is not inferior to that of Surface Pro 4. The Hearthstone legend is run at the highest special effect and full resolution (1920 * 1280), with 38~55 frames.
When LOL is running, it is also full resolution. In the case of the second level special effects, the number of lineup frames is 45~50, the number of group combat frames is 40~45, and in the case of the full highest special effects, the number of lineup frames is 40~45, and the number of group combat frames is 30~35.
Endurance&fever
In terms of heating, as a flat panel, Spectre x2 has a good heating performance. After running the League of Heroes for one hour at 50% brightness, its maximum temperature does not exceed 44 ℃. The M7-6Y75 with ultra-low power consumption is indispensable. In addition, Spectre x2 itself does not have a fan. In daily use (browsing the web/chatting about QQ), there is basically no fever/hot hand.
In terms of endurance, thanks to the ultra-low power consumption of the M7-6Y75, the performance of the Spectre x2 is excellent. Compared with the Surface Pro 4 (i5 version), the ThinkPad E550 (i5 version) has great advantages. After two and a half hours of high-intensity testing, there is still 44% power.
summary
Compared with the traditional Win10 tablet, Spectre x2 uses the latest USB Type-C interface. The whole machine does not have a common USB interface, so it needs to carry at least one additional adapter cable, and it does not support SD card expansion (only Micro SD). However, Spectre x2 has a good energy consumption ratio control, GPU performance can fully meet the needs of LOL games under the local resolution, and its CPU performance can also reach the level of mainstream ultrabooks.
The existence is reasonable. Compared with the Surface Pro 4, the price is more affordable and the power consumption control is better. Spectre x2 is such an existence.
