Electronic companies at home and abroad have launched VR devices designed by themselves, and the competition between them is also extremely fierce. Beijing Birdie Watch Technology Co., Ltd. has also launched its own VR product Pico 1 virtual reality helmet in this big storm, and I am very honored to get its first try through Lei Feng. After half a month's trial experience, I also have a deep understanding of this product. Let me take a look at this product.

1、 Unpacking

▲ The outer package is a black rectangular box, and the logo of the product is printed in the middle of the box cover, which is particularly eye-catching. Under the LOGO, there is a bright red round label with the words "Lei Feng tried" written on it

▲ Open the upper cover, and you can see our hero today. It is on the right side of the box, tightly wrapped with sponge, which can play a very good role in protection during transportation. On the left side of the box is a small box with headband, on which is a Pico 1 exclusive membership card.

▲ In addition, in addition to the headband, the accessories are also equipped with a soft wiping cloth, a USB charging cable and a manual. I only received one headband here. At first, I thought that the merchant forgot to put it on when delivering goods. Later, I saw that other users of Leifeng did not receive another headband.

▲ The front of the helmet is made of black transparent resin mirror material, which can be seen through the mirror. A circle of the mirror is surrounded by a beautiful curved plastic frame.

▲ There is a group of round lenses on the back of the helmet, and there is a distance sensor at the lower right end of the lens. When you watch the video, it will not work. Once you take off the helmet, the distance sensor will stop playing the video in the phone and enter the standby mode. When you put on the helmet again, the device will automatically return to the working mode, and the video will resume playing at the same time. It is surrounded by a ring of foam, which is very comfortable when you wear it. The foam can be removed for easy cleaning.

▲ On the right side of the helmet, at the white sandwich in the middle, a square touchpad can control the up, down, left and right movements of the cursor in the mobile phone app through up/down/front/back four directions of operation, and can be used as a confirmation button by gently touching and clicking on the touchpad. On the touch pad is the return key of the helmet. Long press the return key to call up the main menu interface. The left side of the touch pad is the headband fixing clip, and the right side is the sound adjustment button.

The longitudinal headband intersects with the transverse headband, which can be safely put on the head. There is a recessed key at the top right corner, which can realize different functions under different circumstances: 1. Power on and power off functions; 2. Bluetooth connection functions; 3. answering phone calls when watching videos; 4. starting the external camera functions. There is also an indicator next to the power key, red/blue indicating different working states.

▲ At the bottom of the helmet, a 3.5mm headphone hole can be seen at the lower left corner. After connecting the headset, you can hear the sound from the phone, which is equivalent to plugging it directly into the headphone hole of the phone. On the left side of the headphone hole, there is a pinprick hole, which is the microphone. On the right is the USB charging interface, which is very common. The data cable of mobile phone is universal.

As the name indicates, the mobile phone should be placed in the mobile phone compartment when watching the movie. The left and right sides are asymmetric, and the left side is designed as an arc shaped side to perfectly integrate with the main equipment. In the middle of the two circles that have been cut, through the lens of the main device, and through these two circles, you can see the screen of the phone. Between the two circles, there is a special-shaped hole at the top and bottom respectively. Before playing the movie, you can adjust the placement of the phone through the two special-shaped holes to better achieve the effect of watching the movie. There is an oval sponge in the cell phone compartment, which can not only effectively protect the cell phone from damage, but also adjust the cell phones of different thicknesses.

▲ The back of the mobile phone compartment is very simple. The logo of the product is engraved in the center, and there is a square hole symmetrically on both sides of the logo. This hole is designed for the rear camera of the mobile phone. When playing a movie, press the power button briefly to open the rear camera of the mobile phone. Through the camera, you can move your body without taking off the device, which is very convenient. There is also a small door that can be pulled up and down, through which you can adjust the height of the phone. The mobile phone compartment can accommodate 5-6 inch mobile phones. By the way, the mobile phone must have the function of a gyroscope, otherwise it cannot experience the effects of VR devices.

The mobile phone camera must be installed on the outer side of the mobile phone compartment with an arc end, that is, towards the left side of the helmet. Otherwise, the screen will reverse when watching a full screen video.

2、 Software Operation

Before installing the mobile phone into the host mobile phone compartment, we also need to download PicoVR APP and some videos, which I will explain in detail in this article.

▲ The main interface consists of the following four tags, which are recommendation, movie, game and mine. Under the film and television label, there are three major categories: 3D, 360 ° and 2D. 3D and 360 ° will divide the screen into two pieces, each of which corresponds to a pair of glasses, which will produce a three-dimensional effect when viewing. In addition to this label on the main interface, in 2D mode, click the VR icon on the top right of the screen to enter VR mode without connecting the helmet.

▲ Under My tab, you can view your favorite videos, watched records and downloaded cache records. Here you can register your account to log in. Every day you log in and collect points. Accumulated points can be exchanged for VIP packages. VIP package can enjoy VIP privileges. 3、 Experience

After knowing the structure of the device and downloading the necessary videos from the software, let me experience it.

Press and hold the device power key for 3 seconds, and the indicator is blue. Turn on the Bluetooth of your phone, search for a device named "Pico1", and click the device name to pair. Then open the PicoVR APP of your phone. The device indicator is blue and blinks frequently, indicating that the connection to the phone is successful.

Open the software, enter the main interface of the software, and load the phone into the mobile phone compartment of the device. The software will enter the calibration interface, where a horizontal line and a vertical line will appear. Align the vertical line with the two special-shaped holes on the front of the mobile phone compartment. Then install the phone compartment on the helmet.

My mobile phone is Red Rice NOTE 1S, and the picture quality is 1K, so the picture effect is average, but it is definitely better than the three effect pictures. Officially, it is recommended that the resolution of the mobile phone should be above 2K, and the Red Rice NOTE 2 should be 2K.

4、 Summary

After half a month of Pico 1 virtual reality helmet experience, the feeling it brings to me is not only the beautiful appearance, but also the feeling that you can really experience the immersive experience and travel through time and space. The authenticity is really known only when you wear it. The details of the device itself are well designed, and the functions are also very powerful, such as the size of 5-6 inch mobile phones, myopic adjustment gears, clever use of rear cameras, and support for Android handle operation.

The following are some views and suggestions on Pico 1 VR helmet:

1. After receiving the goods, I found that one of the vertical headbands was missing. It is recommended that this error should not occur again during public sales.

2. The device has the function of adjusting myopia to less than 800 degrees, but the degree of two eyes is different, and the helmet cannot adjust one of the degrees independently, so it is recommended to improve.

3. Half of the video is played, but I don't want to watch it, but I can't save the progress, so I can't continue playing. Every time I open it, I have to start over. I strongly recommend upgrading.

4. When playing the movie downloaded into the cache, the screen will be black when the phone lock time comes. Every time I change the time of the phone's automatic screen lock to the time when the screen never sleeps. When I don't watch it, I have to adjust the time of the automatic screen lock, which is very inconvenient. If you don't adjust the time of the automatic screen lock, the phone's screen will stay lit for a long time, consume electricity, and the phone will be hot.

4. There is an unreasonable part in the design. It is difficult to wipe the outside of the lens with a wiping cloth. It is recommended to redesign the front panel to make it removable.

5. I encountered two small bugs and stopped when the movie download was almost over. Just like Thunderbolt, it stays at 99%. The movie can be played through "My" ->"Local", but it will be stuck until the end.

6. The movies in the app are disorderly. It is recommended to add filtering, sorting, and classification functions. For example, they can be sorted by the release time of the movies, the latest upload, and the download click rate. Users can select popular, member movies and free movies according to their needs. Movies can be classified, such as war and science fiction.

7. It is suggested that PicoVR helmet strengthen the visual and auditory sealing effect to the outside world, so that people can actually experience the real feeling in the virtual environment, which is also the most basic of VR helmet.

8. Try to reduce the weight of the helmet and improve the comfort of wearing it.

9. It is recommended that VR devices solve the problem of dizziness caused by wearing them for a long time.

10. It is recommended that VR helmets be compatible with more host devices, such as TVs and tablets.

11. It is suggested that the helmet can support the memory card function, and the memory card of the helmet can be synchronized with the contents in the specific folder of the phone through operation.

12. Add the functions of helmet automatic scanning bar code, QR code, telephone number, zip code, express bill number, data list, etc. to quickly know their basic information.

13. It is suggested that VR helmet should have hypnotic function.
