Microsoft announced today that it will recall some of the power cords of the Surface Pro series tablet computers with fire hazards for free. The United States and Canada have begun to replace these power cords for customers for free, covering the Surface Pro purchased in the United States and Canada before March 15, 2015, and the Surface Pro purchased in other regions before July 15, 2015.
It is known that there are two types of power cords equipped with SurfacePro, and Microsoft released photos today to distinguish them. Some of the power cords that have been sold are safe, but because the power cord does not have a serial number, users need to make their own comparison and judgment. The power cord of the new model is thickened at the end of the plug, while the power cord of the old model does not have this part. All SurfacePro and SurfacePro 2 users are eligible to replace the power cord, but SurfacePro 3 users need to check whether their power cord conforms to the description in the photo. The new power cord takes 4-6 working days to leave the factory. Before replacing it with a new power cord, Microsoft recommends that users stop using the Surface Pro tablet.
