Apple recalls power plugs with leakage risk in large quantities

Apple has determined that in rare cases, the dual plug Apple AC power plug converter designed for use in continental Europe, Australia, New Zealand, South Korea, Argentina and Brazil may be damaged and cause electric shock risk. These plug converters were shipped with Macs and some iOS devices from 2003 to 2015, and were also included in the Apple World Travel Adapter Kit travel kit. The United States, the United Kingdom, China and Japan, as well as Apple USB power adapters, will not be affected by this plan.

The affected plug converter has 4 or 5 characters or no characters on the internal slot where the converter is connected to the Apple power adapter. The redesigned converter has a three letter area code (EUR, KOR, AUS, ARG or BRA) in this slot.

Apple has taken the initiative to replace the affected plug converter with a new version of the redesigned converter for free.
