Disney Launches EM Sense Concept Smart Watch

Last month, the Disney Research Center officially unveiled a new concept smart watch, which enables the wearer to know what the objects they touch are just by perception. This concept smart watch, named EM Sense, was jointly created by Disney Research Center and Carnegie Mellon University. It mainly detects objects through the distribution of electromagnetic noise.

Theoretically, the electromagnetic noise generated by all electromechanical products is unique, and we can use it to identify objects. Therefore, if the wearer of this concept watch grabs a door handle or picks up a smartphone, electromagnetic noise technology will quickly identify what the object is.

This EM Sense concept smart watch can detect and identify all electronic objects, such as large metal objects, door handles, handles and window frames. The test results of Disney Research Center show that the accuracy of this watch in identifying objects is up to 96.1%.

The Disney Research Center said that this watch has a wide range of practical uses, such as transportation, education and office work. For example, when the wearer goes to the convenience store to buy something, as long as he holds the item in his hand, the watch will send him a notice reminding him whether the item on his hand is suitable or not. Moreover, when the user picks up his electronic toothbrush to brush his teeth, the watch will automatically set the time. When the wearer touches the refrigerator and stove in the morning, EM Sense will automatically infer that the user is making breakfast, thus automatically playing the morning news report. Of course, we can also use a laptop by setting it to bypass the password.
